The Tao

Iv’ read six translations, this one by FAR the best. On so many levels a beautiful work of art. Everyone should read this version once in their lives at least.

Widom, beauty, poetry...

The Tao Te Ching is among the most important religious texts of all time. The short, thought-provocing chapters leave you wiser and you keep coming back to read them again and to understand and grow even more. Stephen Mitchell is a wise and learned man and this translation is very inspiring.

A good introductory translation...

Although far from a scholarly translation, this text provides a very approachable pocketbook translation and is perfect if you're looking for an introduction to Lao-tzu and the Tao.
