This is a great book for the beginner environmentalist or a student looking for some great sources, but for veteran conservationists or activists it is only the same old story.
A lot of the information presented in this book is redundant and can be found in archives of Plenty or E magazine. Don't get me wrong, it really can be a useful book but when I first purchased it I was enthusiastic wanting to learn some new and practical way of helping save mother earth; I was more left with another book to use for citing critics of global warming.
This is probably the only book you will ever need to read when you embark on the environmental practice. It is easy to read, easy to follow, and easy on our planet.
I keep buying copies to give out to my friends!

This book is great to end the anxiety about your personal consumer choices and instead make well-informed, leveraged decisions.
Specifically the top 3 recommendations that far, far outweigh ever other environmental consumer decisions you could ever make are 1) eat less red meat, 2) seriously reconsider buying a second car, and 3) live in a smaller home that is very energy efficient.
If you cover these (or exceed them), then stop worrying about paper vs. plastic, recycling (which is basically a wash for actual environmental concerns), and whether to go vegan or just stay lacto-ovo veggie, and instead get busy working to get a few thousand other folks on board with these very doable recommendations.
