How Much Money Did Grove Press Pay for the Pulitzer Prize?

Writing humor is difficult. It can become dated very quickly. Still, this does not account for the fact that this is one of the worst books to ever to win a Pulitzer Prize.

This book is chock full of potty mouth humor. Farts, burps, fat slob jokes, mama’s boy jokes, senile jokes, etc. The characters were not well developed; they were all heavily steriotyped and not novel. I actually like potty mouth humor if at least one characters has charm (such as the naughty little boy smile of Benny Hill when he did his Dirty Old Man act). Ignatious Reilly was portrayed as a gross, stupid, crazy, mama’s boy with absolutely no charm, style or redeeming characteristics. All the characters are crazy, not funny ha ha crazy, but pathetic. To laugh at these characters is an act of schoolyard cruelty. Adults who think this book is funny really need to look at themselves in a mirror, perhaps with the help of a mental health professional.

Funniest book I've ever read.

Absolutely, a very funny and enjoyable book.
Just read the first page and you will know whether or not to read the rest. I was truly amazed with how the ending came together. The image of Ignatius operating a hot dog cart in his pirate costume with plastic sabre is happily burned into my consciousness forever.
