Every sentence so loaded and potent that it speaks so much more than it actually says. This is one of the greatest books of all time in my eyes, and moreso because Hesse wrote so much in such few words. It's a different kind of masterpiece from what Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky wrote in that where they relied on details, Hesse gets across with the synergy of his choice words.
