Compilation of the first year of discusions revolving around Robert M. Pirsig's novels, Lila: An Inquiry Into Morals, and Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values. Introduction and annotations by Robert Pirsig.
I wrote an email to Argus in which I compared his SAILS to those of Pirsigs sailboat travelling the great lakes etc - in which I said - After Pirsig's son was mugged and died - I think in NY - Pirsig understandably became a bit of a hermit in view of his monetary sucess combined with loosing his son - when his ZEN was all about re-uniting with him.
Having raised the concept of the metaphysics of quality however the Guggenheim eventually put up the money for him to write a book about it which Pirsig named Lila after a character he met on his sail to NY via the lakes etc. Lila has become a bigger phenomenom in the scientific community though since quantum and all that flowed from it to the point that a forum called the Lila Squad has long existed - to come to terms with god is the best way that I can describe it. Dan Glover has been a prominent member of the squad.
