This will last more than 100 years

Although the English translation can not entirely reflect the Colombo-Carribean atmosphere that lies in the origin of this overwhelming novel, the art of the Master exceeds the limitations of language. As you breathlessly follow the narrow path of  historical, cultural and geographical truth through the jungle of fantasy, it ocurrs to you  that this boudless fiction may present you with an explanation of reality, more real than the so-called real world. This was my first García Márquez and I didn't miss another book of his. In his mothertongue, his prose rivals and equals with Thomas Mann's finest. Surely, this Nobel will outlast our times!

epic adventure

This was a memorable book for me.  I read it a few summers ago and I think it took me most of the summer to read.  It was one of those books that I previously might not have taken on because it is so intimidating.  Hundreds and hundreds of pages long and all the characters have a variation of the same name.  I really loved this book and recommend it to everyone.  And above all, I actually remember most of this book (I tend to forget thing that I read, especially novels, after I read them)!
