This book, like few books in recent memory, has raised my confidence that we may yet pull out of the mess we’ve made in our own ‘Crib’.
I am going to work to evangalize C2C everywhere I go….
Imagine buying a bag of chips, eating them, and then throwing the trash away or on the ground without feeling bad about it at all. That's what it could be like if we adapted the cradle to cradle way of product design and manufacturing. Ford motors restructured their entire factory with the 3 top line model of thinking. Economics, Ecologics, and Equality were all factored in. Now the factory is a model of not only sustainability and efficiency, but a model for being in balance with it's natural surroundings. These guys are genius and what's great is that they are actually implementing their ideas and companies are benefiting from them and even making more money. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the environmental movement. Hippies and yuppies can be friends afterall.
This book was indeed revolutionary to me in that it describes a view on environmental issues that is completely positive. Instead of striving to simply sustain ourselves and solve our problems, McDonough and Braungart suggest that we use sustainability as just a starting point. They pose the question: Isn't mere sustainability a bit boring? Their emphasis on the process of creating newer, better and ultimately more fulfilling and productive systems rather than “doing less bad” was for me the take-home message of the book. Their real-world experience and examples back up their revolutionary perspective in a very compelling way.
It's definitely worth a read for anyone interested in creating a new world.
This is a revlutionary idea, that's already working for some of the largest companies in the world. If we as consumers start demanding cradle to cradle products we can change the world in a way we can make it greener, more economical and healthier, without earneing less!

Help

how do we spread these ideas…how do we speed them up? Their ideas in this book is amazing, and I find myself wishing I could make everyone in the world who makes or designs anything read it. genius.
