For those interested in Deep Ecology principles in relation to Biblical teachings, Ishmael by Daniel Quinn is a must read. Because Deep Ecology uses a perception of the universe that is extremely ancient and tribal, much of the writings of Deep Ecologists can sound foreign to those of us raised on Greco-Roman philosophy and language. Quinn takes concepts that are hard for us westerners to understand and puts them into an easy to read format by having the author have a conversation with a gorilla. For those interested in understanding how we have stopped our evolutionary process through our anti-natural orientation, then this is a must read. But, be-aware. The book is libel to make you question the foundations of what Western Society leans upon.
