Welcome! I sure love Gaia Community… and I'd love for you to come to feel the same way. I'm sure, like me, that you'll enjoy the site more and more as you get to know it. 1. The first thing to do is have a look at the navigation side bar to the left-hand side of your screen. There are two important tabs ('Gaia' and 'Me') that you'll always be able to use to get around the site. The 'Gaia' tab has links to all the main areas of our community, while your 'Me' tab is where you can find all 'your' content (from your blog posts to your profile and your messages.) You can also get to your profile by clicking the little 'Me' icon in the upper right of the screen, and to your messages by clicking the 'bubble' icon next to it. 2. Secondly, try exploring the Groups! If you'd like to get a taste of the writings and heart of the Groups on Gaia Community, visit the Collective Wisdom Group. From there you can explore the profiles of interesting people you will read there, and some of the intriguing Groups represented. If you'd like get your feet wet in an easy, community-wide Group, you might want to check out the Questions & Reflections Group, the Group version of Gaia's popular daily Questions & Reflections. You can also just visit the main Groups page and use the search feature to find a Group that suits your interests. 3. Another great place to dive in is the 'New' page on the site (which can be found in the 'Gaia' tab of your sidebar) will show you the most recently posted content, from blog entries to discussions to photos and videos. 4. If the visual arts are more your thing, visit your Photos / Greetings area (in the 'Me' tab in your sidebar)! You can send any photo or piece of art you upload as a Gaia Greeting (or e-card). 5. If you have questions, you can find Support here. There are three separate Groups and we recommend you join them all: Thinktank Group (for new ideas,) How Tos and FAQs Group (for questions of that nature) and Gaia Support. 6. Make sure to check the “Settings” tab (again, at the bottom of your 'Me' sidebar)! This page will let you subscribe to get Notifications about the Groups you join. By visiting the 'Subscriptions' area (again, under 'Settings' in your 'Me' sidebar) you can get emailed when someone leaves a comment on your content or replies to a thread you've posted to. 7. To stay on top of site news, subscribe to the Team Blog (which you also get to using the 'Gaia' tab on your sidebar, under the Community heading). To me it is a warm fuzzy connection to the heartbeat of the site. Also, you can subscribe to various site Newsletters. 8. Finally, I strongly urge you to click on the links to Community Guidelines and Terms-and-Privacy, because they describe our values, our Netiquette, and the way we treat each other here. These links are in your Gaia sidebar, under Community. I am a Gaia Ambassador, and so are over 200 others, so when you see that listed on someone's profile, feel free to ask that person any question about the site, share your experience, or ask for help. If we don't know the answer, we know where you can get the answer. And the Gaia Team is fantastically friendly: don't ever be shy about sending a note to Siona or Jessica or Matthew or Jodi or anyone else on the crew. Blessings, Rev. O.M. Bastet |

And, not forgetting the new Gaia Groups Community group, which we call The Mod Pod. Group Purpose: This Group ismeant to support moderators as we develop our own Groups into thriving, vibrant, spaces. We'll share tips, techniques, issues and ideas relatedto and the care and feeding of our Groups, including conflictmeditation with and between members of the groups we moderate.
ThisGroup also helps us to work together with moderators of similar orcomplementary groups, be it collaborating on topics or merging Groupsin order to bring together people with similar interests. Finally, the Mod Pod is a place in which we can contribute ideas that may haveemerged separately in multiple Groups, letting us take the pulse of thedreams and desires of the broader Gaia community, which will, in turn, help us to be better moderators. Enjoy! |

And I know this was already mentioned, but Siona's daily question at Questions and Reflections are a great way to start blogging and to start participating in the rest of the community. |
