Knitters in the Seattle Area

Hamilton said Jun 23, 4:06 PM:

This isn't exactly a gathering, but this seems a logical place to post this.

I'm a Girl Scout and working on my Gold award project.
For the project, I am recruiting as many people as I possibly can to knit (or crochet) as many 7” by 9” squares as they possibly can, which I will sew together into blankets and donate to Union Gospel Mission.

If anyone here on Gaia knits and is willing to knit a few squares (and lives in the area), I will have drop-off boxes around town.

The one I have in place now is at the Kirkland Senior Center
352 Kirkland Avenue
Kirkland, WA 98033

They're open Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, and can be reached at 425-587-3360.

(I'll post the locations of other boxes as they come available)

Donations of new or gently used blankets (clean and machine washable preferred), worsted weight yarn and size 8 knitting needles are also appreciated.

There's a really good set of instructions at http://www.learntoknit.com/instructions_kn.php3 for anyone interested in learning.

Thank you!

I haven't knitted in ages, but this looks wonderful! Oh, Hamilton. Wow. I might even be in Seattle in a weekend or two.

You'll need to keep an eye out for a purple square. ;)

If anyone wants to mail squares to the North Kirkland Community Center, that's allowed too :)
