How to avoid pain in daily life?

Peacehunter said Sep 27, 11:21 PM:

Pain is what we often try to avoid and gain is what we often try to have/look for. But, more than the gain pain is associated with our daily life. We all know that, “no pain no gain” but do we really understand what it means? Some may do and some may not but in common we all do really practice this, may be consciously or unconsciously, intentionally or unintentionally. It’s hard to live without pain in daily life but yet there can be ways to avoid besides having lots of works, problems and so on. Of them, what would be the easiest and shortest way to avoid pain in daily life? That is just keep the pain as pain, never let it reign/rule over you. In other words, never personalize the pain as yours.

Very true. I see the sensation of “pain” as a wink from the universe that there is a little something there, that can be addressed metaphorically. This sensor can range from what I call a “wink” which will inevitably progress to a “2 by 4 and sometimes a 4 by 8”, if my sensor is not addressed . As you see, humor is on my side, even though when the “pain” sensor is present, I may not view it as lightly. I view the sensor as a gift. I address it accordingly, no attachment to the “story” and shift on. Now, how about those layers :) …

Peacehunter I am trying to understand your point.  Pain is a gift that has been given to help us recognise change.  It is not a master but a messenger.

I tried very hard to avoid pain in my daily life for years, and years, and years….basically anesthetized myself to ALL of it!  I was so deep in to my addictions due to the fact that life was painful, and, I was going to avoid living it at all cost due to that simple fact!

I know now that I was partly wrong…partly correct.  Life is life, plain and simple.  it is full of twists and turns that simply can not be avoided unless we were to hide in a cave, or, in my case, stay obliviated day in, day out.  i have come to accept that growth is painful, but, it is well worth the pain…there are rewards on the other side of that pain.  That is not to say that I enjoy the pain…no way , no how…I have just come to a realization that it is not going to kill me, it will pass, and, it is worth the effort.

Now, physical pain is an entirely different issue!  I deal with that as well, but, not very gracefully…I am still learning, ever changing, ever evolving.  I have learned through 12 step programs that I only have to make it through each day, one day at a time…sometimes a minute at a time…I CAN do this.  Life is a total trip…well worth any of the “pain” that may get in the way!  ;-)

Hello,
Sorry that busy time table prevented me to be present here regularly, yet, having visited this Thread I've found interesting and enlightening ideas that have been shared in my absence.

One thing I've realized having read the above posts that many of you have realized and got understanding about pain and having positive understanding towards it you all are driving yourselves towards more positivism.

Andrew, absolutely  that “pain” is a messenger as well as mechanism that helps to realize the true nature of life.

Missy, I'm happy that you got a great positive idea and understanding towards the life you are moving forth with. I think if anyone thinks of ending the life either being frightened to face  or deal with it would be the unwisest decision to be ever made. Just having asked/questioned yourself considering the “pain” you experienced either physical or mental, try to ask/question others whether they've experienced/are experiencing similar kind of pain/s, you would definitely find many in number happening same thing/s.
