no returns in my post

Sylvia said Oct 6, 2008, 8:28 PM:

Hi, folks - I’m trying to post a poem about inner yearnings - I copied and pasted it from Apple Works on my Macbook Pro. The returns show up when I’m in the editor, but when it comes up on my blog page after I post it, all the lines run together . I’ve added punctuation, extra spaces, and tried deleting the original returns and adding them back while in the editor … still no luck.

Ideas, anyone?

Thanks

Sylvia

Hi Sylvia,

It's most likely due to the formatting from Apple Works.  I suggest copying into a plain text editor then copying pasting from there into our text box.  Otherwise, you could turn off the javascript and edit the html, if you know how to do that.

Cheers,
~Matthew

I actually find that Javascript and pretty much any formatting from any word processor is going to have unpredictable results. I usually do as you suggest to strip all formatting completely before copying into a post.

Acrobat Professional has the most different ways to export text, and I usually end up using it to change formatting from other documents. It's time-consuming, but less irritating than, say, deleting a soft return from every single line of text.
