Server dropping like fall leaves on a windy day

i hate to come back here with another issue, but this one is a real big thorn in my side. i keep getting pages saying that the server dropped. when i try to answer or reply to messages or boards, i get it. so i switch to a new window and that does the trick most of the time.

this is rather irritating..as when it does this, i typically lose the post or reply along with it. so i either try to remember to copy what i said, or retype it.

sorry..but i cannot even count how many times this has happened to me today alone.

mmmmm… yes, that would be very annoying!  I'll see what we can do about it.

Hey Suni, can you paste in the exact error message you get and let us know what version of which browser you are using?

the next error message, i will try to remember to copy it for you. i am using Safari 3.2.3 on a macbook version 10.5.7

the error message differs for the page i was trying for though.

Safari can’t open the page.Safari can’t open the page “http://mail.gaia.com/view/3860516?page=1” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy. You might be able to open the page later.

i did try to download Firefox, as i cannot add new rooms to my new group, and i cannot add pictures to the room. it was recommended that i get firefox, and i tried, but i don't know what i am doing. this icon appeared on my desktop, but it was not the internet button…i don't know what it was. when i right clicked to delete it, one of the options said “eject”. i have no idea!

Someone with more experience with macs may be able to help out.  I think you put an icon into the applications folder after installation.  And then you should be able to open the new program somewhere.  Not sure about the ejecting thing…

i do think it was the applications folder.. ladybear did give me some direction as well. i will try again and let you know ok?

working like a charm! even has private browsing! now..it won't let any bugs or other bad things in, will it? i prefer my Safari to firefox..

browser choice can be a bit of a crap shoot.  Firefox tends to work best here, but it's not bullet proof.  I'd suggest just use the one that works best for whatever site you're on :)

Safari works great on every site. it just hiccups here for my group..go figure! if you want to know, and if it helps anything, firefox did just give me this not even 10 minutes ago:

“The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

    *   The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
          moments.

    *   If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
          connection.

    *   If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
          that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.”

are you accessing the site from work or some place with a firewall?  This seems to be ISP related…

no. it's just my laptop in my bedroom, hooked up to an ethernet cable.. do you think it could be the internet provider, or my Mac OS X system?

yes, possibly your isp or dns server trying to access the old EY servers.

I'm having the same problem. I also have a Macbook  OS X  Lap Top system and am using Safari. The problem occurs more in the evening.

And only occurs on this site.

with regard to the server, more people have been having trouble, and they all say that this error only occurs on this website.

Right, that would make sense if the DNS server is expecting the EY servers to respond.  I'm  not sure there's anything we can do on our end; it should take care of itself over time.  But a refresh should fix it when it happens.  However, if this lasts too long, let me know!

XD it's been going on for a couple weeks now XD i just open a new window, because sometimes the refresh either doesn't work, or it takes too long to load.
