Edit of blog comments doesn't work

When you add a comment to a blog there comes up a button that says you have 15 minutes to edit that post.  If you see a typo and press that edit button, nothing happens.

Would be nice to be able to fix glaring errors that sometimes crop up.

I've had the same problem earlier today (when using Internet Explorer, trying to find out which version but haven't been successful there yet).

Hello All -

I have that problem all of the time.  I remedy it by toggling away from the page I'm in (the one where I've made the error), and then then coming right back (not using the 'back' button on the computer).  For example, if I see a glaring error in my blog, I click on the Profile Page (to get out), and then click on my blog to get back in.  Then I click on 'edit' and voila, I'm in like Flynn!

I've started typing most things in a Word document first.  Then I cut and paste the whole shootin' match into 'Notebook' to take out any Word formatting, then I cut and paste that into Gaia.  I have to do a little reformatting (usually, separate the paragraphs), but then I'm golden.

It's not a fix, but it's a work-around.

Maybe I should have been a little more specific.  After I add a comment to someone's blog it appears in a new window fine.  Then I have 15 minutes to edit that post.  If I see somehing I want to change in my comment and click on “Edit” nothing happens.  I don't get the edit window back to fix it.  My original comment is set in stone, so to speak.

I have tried back paging and then forward paging, and hitting “edit” again but it doesn't work.
I do notice, however, it worked fine just now as I added the preceeding sentence here.  Maybe it's fixed.  :-)  ??

Matthew hasn't logged on for a couple of days and is probably
gone for a long holiday weekend.

Hang in there, support will most likely be back on Monday.

Hmmmm… I just tried in firefox 3.5 and couldn't replicate the problem, david.  Do you mind if I try with your account?

Go ahead Mathew.   I use AOL 9.5 predominantly.  I wonder if the problem lies there?

I can't troubleshoot AOL, unfortunately.  Did you try in FF?

It just worked fine in Firefox.  I guess it's an AOL 9.5 problem.  Thanks for helping me isolate that.

Hi and no, it's not (an AOL 9.5 only problem). Using Internet Explorer right now (still don't know which version, how do I find out?) I test commented on one of my blog entries and wasn't able to edit or delete (within the 15 minute time frame). So the problem does still exist. And please, Matthew, could you help me delete my test comment? Thanks.

Hi Jenny,

IE should have a “help” menu in the toolbar up top.  Click that and choose “about”.  That should give you the version information.  Comment deleted :)

Thanks for deleting the comment. It's IE 7.0.

I found a workaround!  If I want to edit a comment, I hit the refresh button on my browser (IE 8.0) and can then edit the comment.  Works every time :)

OK, I was able to duplicate the issue in IE7.  le soleil's work-around will work.  For some reason a “#” symbol is being appended to the URL and that's causing the issue.  I'll have a developer take a look…
