This line speaks most clearly to me… “I could take the Harlem night and wrap around you, Take the neon lights and make a crown” This is such a fantastic expression of community, truly international and grand in scale. You are all so pleasing to my eyes, ears, heart and soul. Samme, Jenna, and everyone that made this celebration what it is (so far), I'm humbled by your presence. Deep bows to all. |

And now for a brief carnival history of Italian colored socks! (Thanks, Loriann!) So put on your most colorful socks (perhaps sock of your crayon color from Dave's epic crayon post?), and enjoy the show. :) Compagnie della Calza (“Trouser Club”) The Compagnie della Calza companies were young Venetian noblemen who organized the spectacular Venetian life between the XV and XVI century. Two companions of the Brothers Zardinieri Le Compagnie della Calza were born around the middle of the fifteenth century Venice where controllarono and organized performances citizens. Every year at carnival every company of sock organized a series of shows reserved for the Venetian nobility in which were used (at the expense of the company) famous buffoons time, but also real theatrical even with the presence of famous authors Beolco as Angelo said Ruzante and Pietro Aretino. The various companies had names of imagination is inspired by virtue such as those of Floridi, U.S., and Arrange; others traevano inspiration from trades like the Ortolani and Zardinieri. The companies are distinguished for colored socks the color of the company and complicated embroidery that recall the name of the company itself. As part of Vittore Carpaccio The departure of the engaged which is part of the cycle of Sant'Orsola, one sees clearly the complicated embroidery with the initials F. [ratelli] Z. [ardinieri] on the left sleeve of one of the two. |

Oooh Moulin Rouge, I love that movie. It is like a Bollywood movie. Bollywood is the term for a film industry in India where the movies are long and have several dance and song segments juxtaposed in the course of the film. Usually there will be about 6 segments of this dance and song routines. We have to have scenes from a French Mardi Gras. I am preparing one now for scenes from Philippines Mardi Gras so come back again and keep posting and have fun.
