Devoured the book.

Caught the picture this week, in Chicago, with my daughter. Awesome. Reading the book beforehand did not stop me from enjoying every moment of the pic.

Finally got to see PW last night. Was in a big unpacking mess after a few weeks on the road. Out of the blue a thought came to me - get online and see if PW is showing in San Diego. Yes!!!!! I dragged myself away from my chaotic piles and boxes. Ohhh, I did not mention that I had just moved nests prior to my trip, LOL.

Peaceful Warrior……. was a super way for me to review lessons I have learned. I had no expectations. I had not read anything about the movie except that I should not miss it. I was riveted to my seat throughout the whole experience.

I floated out of the theatre and stepped outside into the warm night air. I immediately noticed a lightness and tranquility within. I think my inner smile was showing on my face. As I walked back to my car I felt an overwhelming connection to my brothers and sisters in our global village.

When I arrived home I looked around, and instead of groaning at the sight that befell me, I said to myself, “OK, Grasshopper, what is the lesson here?” Laughing out loud I began my task, looking forward to watching the transformation from the jumbled mess into my new, blissful sanctuary.

  Bali Hai Lyrics

Most people live on a lonely island,
Lost in the middle of a foggy sea.
Most people long for another island,
One where they know they would like to be.

Bali Ha'i
May call you,
Any night,
Any day.
In your heart
You'll hear it call you:
“Come away,
Come away.”

Bali Ha'i
Will whisper
On the wind
Of the sea:
“Here am I,
Your special island!
Come to me,
Come to me.”

Your own special hopes,
Your own special dreams,
Bloom on the hillside
And shine in the streams.

If you try,
You'll find me
Where the sky
Meets the sea;
“Here am I,
Your special island!
Come to me,
Come to me!”

Bali Ha'i,
Bali Ha'i,
Bali Ha'i.

“Someday you'll see me,
Floating in the sunshine,
My head sticking out
>From a low-flying cloud;
You'll hear me call you,
Singing through the sunshine,
Sweet and clear as can be,
Come to me,
Here am I,
Come to me!”

Bali Ha'i,
Will whisper
On the wind
Of the sea:
“Here am I,
Your special island!
Come to me,
Come to me.”

“Bali Ha'i,
Bali Ha'i,
Bali Ha'i.”

“I bow before that personification of nectar,
Who is the ever lasting immortal bliss,
Who is the luster in the Sushumna,
Which is in the six chakras of the body,
And who melts the moon and drinks its light.

I sing about that Bhavani,
Who sits in the triangle,
Which shines in the stamen of the great lotus,
Who has the luster of crores of rising suns,
Who is immensely pretty,
And who attracts the entire world by her charm.”

Lessons from dogs, (from a 6-year-old)

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker’s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, “I know why.”

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation.

He said, “People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life – like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The six-year-old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

* When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
* Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
* Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
* Take naps.
* Stretch before rising.
* Run, romp, and play daily.
* Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
* Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
* On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
* On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
* When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
* Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
* Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
* Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you’re not.
* If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
* When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
* Be always grateful for each new day.

You will love some of these, Nikki. Hugs to Kitten and you both….

Received this from a friend, wanted to share….

What Love means to a 4-8 year old . Slow down for three minutes to read this. It is so worth it.

The answers the professional got were broader and deeper than anyone could have
imagined.

See what you think:

‘When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got
arthritis too. That’s love.’
Rebecca- age 8

‘When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.’
Billy - age 4

‘Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.’
Karl - age 5

‘Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French
fries without making them give you any of theirs.’
Chrissy - age 6

‘Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.’
Terri - age 4

‘Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip
before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.’
Danny - age 7

‘Love is when you kiss all the! time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be to gether and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss.’
Emily - age 8

‘Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas when you stop opening
presents and listen.’
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

‘If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,’
Nikka - age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka’s on this planet)

‘Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.’
Noelle - age 7

‘Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.’
Tommy - age 6

‘During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn’t scared anymore.’
Cindy - age 8

‘My mommy loves me more than anybody You don’t see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.’
Clare - age 6

‘Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.’
Elaine-age 5

‘Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.’
Chris - age 7

‘Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.’
Mary Ann - age 4

‘I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.’
Lauren - age 4

‘When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.’ (what an image)
Karen - age 7

‘Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn’t think it’s gross.’
Mark - age 6

‘You really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if youmean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.’
Jessica - age 8

And the final one – Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge.

The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy
said, ‘Nothing, I just helped him cry.’
