When I want to visit the Goddess

BruceMorse said Jan 28, 2008, 12:29 PM:

When I want or need to visit the Goddess I drive nine miles to The Great Falls along the Housatonic River. There the Goddess has unleashed her creative power by carving glorious sculptures in the rocks and ice. It is a world wet and glistening with a million jewels. During the warm months tad poles and cray fish wiggle and dart in a hundred glistening orifices in the rock. In the winter water dripping from the river banks freeze in ornate architectural designs. Lying in clusters inside partial caves they glow like cities in a mythic land.

Amidst this vibrant and sensual world I can touch the vitality of my own life force, a gift of the Goddess.

What a great topic!
When I need to visit the Goddess I normally don't have to travel that far. I don't have a specific place as I never stay in the same location for too long. But I always find her when I sit on a rock in the sun, by a steam, river, or lake, or in the arms of a tree being rocked gently by the wind. And when I can't find places like these the Goddess finds me. She embraces me through the arms of a spirit sister, or awakens my being during a dance. She inspires me with and through song, and when I really need her and just can't seem to find her she brings her come-unity to me and puts up big neon signs that flash purple and green that say HERE I AM!!!

One of the ways I seek Her is definitely through dance. I believe that when we relinquish our expectations, our judgements of our dance, She will dance through us. And what bliss that can become! Though I have not yet found my way to that place.

Awesome topic!

When I want to visit the Goddess, sometimes I just close my eyes and “feel” with all of my other senses. Other visitations are found at the ocean, a walk in the park or a quiet moment by a fire.

Most of the time, I go to the beach and find her crashing on the shore; frothy and foamy from teh churning of her waves. There, I can step and feel Her wrapped around me.

Last spring sitting on the banks of the old reservoir by where I was then living, looking across the desert towards the mountains, I watched the wind ripple across the high grass all around me and realized that the wind is nothing else than Her breath, Her vital prana… and suddenly I realized there is no need to look for Her as She is *everything*!

That realization is fleeting of course, and often I can't recall that with the immediacy with which I felt it in that moment.

Is there anyway to post pictures in teh discussion squares? I think that I would be nice to have pictures of where we see the Goddess.

Lotus Blossom,
I know that before Gaia there was a way, buy I'm not sure now. I don't see any icons, but i just copied and pasted this heart from a google image search screen.

Let me try another image from my own files.

hmmm…….it doesn't seem to be working that way.

I've tried everything that I can think of; copying to a word doc, to a powerpoint…. I don't know what else to try.

About a week ago I found another wonderful such place. Hiking along a deep canyon, the trail opened on the other side to a wide valley. It felt so peaceful looking across it that it drew me towards it's far side, first following the main drainage, then a faint two-track trail. Reaching the alcove on the far side of the valley, I was not surprised to be greeted by a grainery perched in front of it. Some of the ancient ones had of course found this place, maybe a millenium ago, and had called it home for at least a time. Approaching the alcove I spontaneously offered prayers thanking the spirits and asking for permission to visit their home. Sitting under the alcove, looking towards the sky framed by the lip of the cave's opening a perfect arc like a rainbow, I felt there had been a happy life in that place at one time – children playing, mothers tending to their tasks while the hunters were out seeking game. I felt the Goddess' presence so clearly through the whole valley. It felt totally unconnected to my day to day life… like I had stepped into another realm. Such peace.

My day to day life can seem such a treadmill, but from time to time I am reminded the magic that lays just beyond the horizon, just a few miles outside of town, in the desert. If only one takes the time to wander some, with an open heart.
