Great News Show

Every time we read, hear or see 'news' it hardly ever is. Whatever is shared, is always with an agenda. Pushing points of view, belief systems, etc. Now how wonderful when the agenda is peace, I'd love to take a daily helping of it!

I dream of one day creating a “great news show”, in a playful setting with lots...(more)

Kindness Can

Asian Woman [no longer around] said Feb 4, 2008, 1:55 AM:

Kindness Can

Somewhere, somehow, the kindness of another person has changed your life for the better.
You already know by direct experience that kindness has the power to reach far, far beyond itself.
Even a small kindness can make a big impact.
For once a kindness is offered, it takes on a life of its own.
Kindness can bring a blessed light to the darkest of times.
Kindness can give comfort, direction, inspiration and hope where there was none before.
Kindness can reach into the most cynical, hardened hearts.
Kindness can be a testament to life's goodness that is impossible to refute or deny.
Kindness can melt away anxiety and build up confidence.
Genuine kindness is a positive force that cannot be ignored.
If you wish to make a positive contribution to life, kindness will take you far.
Always, when it seems that nothing will make a difference, kindness can.

(Daily inspiration from our friend Brian of Think Arete) Big Idea
  #66. Wayne Dyer: Be Nice

Inspired by: Wayne Dyer

Discuss this Big Idea in the Forums!

Listen to Audio Recording!

Have you ever heard about the effects of kindness on your brain? Wayne Dyer shares the amazing science of kindness in his book “Power of Intention.” It goes something like this:

Serotonin is the drug that makes you feel good. It's what all the pharmaceutical companies pump into those wonderful little anti-depressants. It's also a little drug God decided to pump through our brains when we do things he/she/it likes. It's kinda like a little reward for good behavior, you know?

Anyway, get this: when you do something kind for someone else, the person you're helping has serotonin released in her brain-she feels happier.

And so do you.

Good news! Two more serotonin-induced happier people in the world! Woo hoo!

But the most amazing thing is this: not only do you and the person you helped feel better, so does some random person who happened to watch your act of kindness.

Let's be nice.

Yes, I always have the BEST customers at work because I'm always nice to them! Many of my co-workers have difficult customers but I sail thru the day with my very fun people to play with and it all starts with a genuine smile and excitement to learn something new about a soon to be new friend!

There's never a stranger around when everyone is smiling at each other!

Smiles and Sunshine to all those nice people out there!

Wouldn't that be FUN?! I'd have to warn you though! You'd end up with all sorts of smelly good lotions on and pretty sparkles on  your eyes! No one is too old to wear…

Yes, Amber, and Om, bring it on! One of these days I'll come visit you with bells on!

Btw, all this glittery glam talk reminds me of one Halloween where I decided to be a spiderwoman (as in: a woman who loves spiders). On half my face I drew a spider web, and a nice fat spider on my other cheek. It was all enhanced with sparkles and my spider friend's body was adorned with fake gemstones, particularly her cephalothorax.

Cephalothorax

The united head and thorax of Arachnida and Crustacea.

The anterior (front) of the two major divisions of the body of a spider.

Why not show off some spider linguistics. How blessed we are with the internet, http://www.xs4all.nl/~ednieuw/Spiders/Spiderglossary.htm  ;-)

By all means, Amber.

Please do give your dear iguana friend a big kiss for me, will you?

Thanks for the smiles and salamanders too. It just gave me a flashback into a time I used to live in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. We used to have little lizards at home, surveilling particularly the walls and ceilings and keeping the bugs in check. Naturally I was grateful for their presence.

Our cat, Ushi, would occasionally catch a lizzard, however most of the time she'd just get a piece of their tail, which they grew back anyway.

Did I ever share with you that on our roof, we had an iguana family. The dad would occasionally make an appearance in my yard, and while I sat on the front porch from where I have enjoyed many spectacular Carribean sunsets, our eyes would meet in mutual appreciation.

Nell ;-)

Hi Sandy!

Thanks for joining in. I appreciate your input and your plea for our 'kindness motto' toward them.

Our spider friends in return are doing quite a job catching various types of bugs - including the bloodsucking kind - in their craftily spun silky shiny works of art. We co-habitate together. Once a web has been abandoned we can safely conclude it has served its purpose, especially when it's noticably collecting dust. That's a good time to remove it.

Btw, have you ever considered that even our bloodsucking bugs may have a purpose after all. Perhaps, they are mother nature's way of vaccination. And if we consider ourselves products of mother nature and nurture ourselves accordingly, those vaccinations are not as out of control, and the only kind we'll ever need.

Which is why I plea for kindness toward all bugs, which in turn is much kinder toward all living things including us human beings. We are outnumbered by them anyway, and the warfare against them hurts us more then them. I am convinced that we would have a lot less bugs around without the warfare which only causes these families to mutate into something more vicious and resistant.

Wisdom and peace to all,
Nell ;-)

I am kind to bugs too -all creatures ,
great and small and all that.
Not totally keen on disease bearing mosquito's
though -are you sure they are necessary!!!

Re: Kindness Can

Amazume said Mar 13, 2008, 9:05 AM:

Did I say they were necessary? I do believe dis-ease, and dis-ease bearing mosquito's are of our own creation, and as such must have a purpose. Since these creatures now do exist, I rather thank them on the rare occasion they inocculate me. Rather than pointing the finger in any direction looking for someone or something to blame, I consider myself part of the whole of creation, and so I like to approach it as a boost to my immune system. Instead of thanking our mosquito friends, I could also choose to be afraid of the dis-ease(s) they may have picked up along the way before one or more mosquitos get to me. Now that would be a total waste of energy, as I rather choose to trust in the miracle of my body and its capacity to heal itself. And you know what? As I practice non-resistance there hardly is any sign of mosquito bites after being bitten.

Btw, Sandy, your commitment to kindness is encouraging and heart warming. Thanks so much for sharing that.

In Loving Light,
Nell ;-)

Well that's amazing , Amazume -
the whole conecpt/big picture of course.
Everything for a purpose or reason etc.
I shall try and remember all that the next time I get
bitten and covered in huge itchy lumps!
Are you sure it is non-resistance you are practising
and it's not the affects of alcohol -LOL
My ex hardly gets bitten and swears it's because there is
more alcohol than blood running through his veins!!!

I did mean all that in a kindly way -I quite got the giggles
at your post -I liked the way you wrote it!
