i'll just leave this here...

Carl said Aug 24, 8:37 AM:

This is in Washington state.  (northwest of the US if you aren't familiar ;)
The boy has had an unfortunate run-through with a beebee gun shot to the head, and is trying to recover.

Hey Carl,
I just wanted to send you an update on little Sean, he isn't doing so well. they aren't sure what happened but he was able to talk to his grandma on the phone for about 20 min and then about 2 hours later he wouldn't respond to anyone or anything. I have copy/pasted a part of the email that they sent out today updating his status. it is only slightly improved from what it was yesterday/day before and is still MUCH WORSE then it was before his (relapse) I guess you could call it. Please Please Please continue to keep him in your prayers Carl. I want my nephew back, I miss him so much and I would give up litterally anything to see him smile even once at us. Sean is doing better today.  He has no signs of infection as of yet, but the cultures still need to cook for another three days to make sure.    He had an EEG scan, which came back abnormal, meaning there was not as much brain activity like they were hoping.  This could be from the medication or he could have had a seizure early on, they are not sure at this point.  They do know that he has not been having silent seizures currently.    They have ordered a brain ultrasound and have completed that tonight.  I probably won't know the results of that until tomorrow sometime.    In the mean time, they stopped his antibiotics he was on, it was a very large dose, but he has been on them continues for seven days now, so they've done their job.  And they cut his anti-seizure medication in half.  He now seems more alert since this took place this afternoon.    He actually watched TV for about an hour before he went back to sleep tonight.    The nurse gave him a sponge bath this afternoon, which he seemed to enjoy and calmed down afterwards.   He still is not speaking to us and continues to hum/moan.    My heart just breaks thinking about everything he has gone through up to this point and everything he will have to go through in the weeks to come.    They have told me we are staying here for now.  He has to stay awake for at least three hours and be more responsive before they will even consider moving us to Children's for rehabilitation.    Thanks again to my family for all your support during this time, in making it possible for me to stay with my son, the nurse sure appreciate it too, especially when he doesn't want to cooperate.    Sean has started grabbing at my hands today and squeezing on command.  He can move his toes and fingers when told to as well.    The therapist came in today and put his helmet on, helped him get dressed in his hospital skivvies and took about a twenty foot walk with assistance, his right side is still not responding totally, but this is a big step compared to yesterday.    We tried to feeding thing again and he is just not ready for that yet.  He was able to chew on some ice and get that down.  However, when we tried the applesauce they ended up having to suction it out of his mouth, because he wouldn't swallow.   He also managed to pull his feeding tube out.  He has been trying all week to do this, so I guess that's a victory for him, however he did not like it at all when they had to put a new one in.  At least they used the other nostril so he's not digging at it yet.  Then he had to have an x-ray to make sure it was in place properly.    He has even started cuddling with my hands at night while he sleeps on his side.    He has sure developed Mommy radar, I can't leave the room for a second before he starts wining.

Goodness!  Sending this lady light and calm to be there comfortably so he can take the gradient needed to heal.  Blessings to the gma.  I recommend she be the one to communicate as he is responding to her. The other comm is the hand squeeze… very well done on his part. Sending light to the doctors and nurses with their healing hands and surrounding him with energy to survive through this.

We have been successful people!  with a little luck of a med change, his perseverance, and outside help ;) he's doing a lot better.  he's got a bit of a numb side and he's having a little bit of a memory problem but he's still with us and apparently over the threshold!

Thanks guys,
Carl

Thank you so much everyone for your prayers, and thank you Carl for posting this. It means so much to me and I'm sure it will mean a lot to little Seans mother when I show this to her. His memory has acually improved a little more since yesterday and he was able to remember the name of the stuffed dog that we gave him and who gave it to him. He did need a little prompting but it is a improvement. Thank you again for your continued prayers for my nephew.

Forever Grateful ,
 Heather

Hey everyone,

Thank you all once again for your prayers for little Sean and our family. He has finially been aloud to come home from the hospital to stay and although I have been unable to go and visit him personally since then I have talked with those who have and they all say that he seems pretty much back to normal. I don't know what (if any) issues he may still have but his personality is back and I have been told that the little squirt is demanding to be taken fishing before the end of the season. (keeps saying it's not fair he miss out on his share of the salmon). anyway I just thought that you would all like to know that your prayers have helped. Thank you all so much.

Heather

p.s. I attached a photo of sean from before he was injured and a photo from while he was in the hospital. I will add another later of him now that he is out. I thought that you all might like to see the little boy that you have been praying for.

Hi, Heather - thank you very much for posting this update.  It's good to hear that he's doing relatively well.  :-)

I'm guessing even if he's not out fishing - he's probably getting at least his share of fresh catch - I envy the little squirt that [s].  Pretty much all the salmon we get here inland (Ohio) is either smoked or previously flash frozen.

blessings to you and Sean -

Sylvia
