Hello Vagwen, & welcome to Awakening the Healer!
You are definitely not out of place here & I don't want you to feel out classed either. Most adult Energy & Spiritual healers I know in the U.S. started truly believing & practicing after they had already been on another life path for decades. Most of them had to start by spending years "unprogramming" their previous views & beliefs, so don't worry about your age either.
Any one of your interests by itself, if practiced with the intention of healing, could be a great tool.
I thank you for joining us.
Love & Light,
Michael

--

Hello! I'm not quite sure if I belong here, but I thought I'd come and say hello nonetheless.

I'm a teenager who has a huge interest in healing. I don't know if I have any ability, but I know that I have an interest in helping others to achieve their highest levels of health and happiness and a love for, well... people. I like to "heal" spirits, if you will. My dream is to heal through storytelling and inspiration. I like to make others not only smile, but to help them realize their own potential and see them do the same for others. So if that's healing, then I guess I'm not that out of place here.

I'm not normally shy at all, but I feel sort of out-classed here. I'm sure all of you have been healing for years and years and years, and I'm just a kid who admires healers of all sorts. So thanks for listening, and thank you for following your call to better the world. :)

I opened a small retail business a month ago (along with doing Reiki there). I was at a trade show Monday byr one of my suppliers and they had one Healing Drum Kit there. It was so meant for me.
I've looked in a couple of music stores for a remo drum. (I was told by someone they were called Repo Drums). Maybe that's why no one got back to me or I've figure I was meant to read this and get The Kit.
Thanks! I'm hoping this weekend to find some time to play around with it.

      Hi Don.
I loved this story. I read all the blogs earlier today and tonight while re-reading an old e-mail from a friend from Norway I right away thought of this. My friend quoted me something out of one of Jamie Sams books which I would like to share with you. I felt I was divinely guided to re-read that letter. So much in fact I decided to add it to my profile. Here it is.
Expectations show us
A mirror of our minds;
There lies the reflection of what we can not find.
Bound to our limitations,
Blocked by doubts and fears,
The patterns of generations,
Their sorrow and their tears.
If we let go of those burdens,
And stand, in present time,
Trusting in Great Mystery,
To create the sublime.
A vision more complete,
Beyond our human sight,
Will appear on the horizon,
Born from grace and light.
Without the expectations,
We are free to see,
The workings of creation
Within Great Mystery.
There lies our potential,
Within the state of grace,
The legacy of humankind,
Of every creed and race.
Love and Light,
Sandra

      Hello All!
I remembered this yesterday and enter it here in case it helps. It seems that rather than this being an example of active healing it is an example of innate ability manifesting when needed.

The Toothache Anaesthetic.
It was 1991 and I had just got a job after many months of being unemployed and I started developing a tooth abscess. As the pain increased I was in a situation where I had no money to go to a dentist but then I came across something in a magazine where mention was made of a nerve that ran across the mastoid bone [behind the ear] and to the upper jaw.
I found this nerve and discovered that when I massaged it a sensation went to the area where my abscessed tooth was and quelled the pain. I used this anaesthetic process for about three months until I could collect the money to go to a dentist.
I have not been able to find that nerve since!

      Hello,

I'm rather new to all this wonderful sharing, and I love it!

I think that when I began to heal past "afflictions", about 1991, I became conscious that I am also a healer for others. I believe that I have been a healer since early childhood, but I just didn't know it yet. I have learned to hold space for others to tell their stories. And I believe it is in telling our stories that we heal ourselves, and by listening to others' stories they find that they aren't alone, and can feel safe to allow themselves to be healed. As I said in my profile, we cannot heal alone. And much of the healing we do ourselves, through our beliefs and attitudes. We must learn how to see ourselves differently, with much self love.

I love reading all the posts in this pod, and I look forward to learning from all of you.

"Meanderer"

I have posted some pictures of my drum in my "photos". All the straps & beads (& holes for the straps) I added myself. When I hold it by the straps I get a much more resounding sound.
I Journeyed using it the other night. It was the first time I have had any luck drumming myself to Journey. I have always played my CD or have had someone else drum for me. This time I drummed with the CD. Right away I lost knowledge what noise was mine & what was the CD & several times I lost awareness of the fact that I was drumming. At one point I felt as if I was riding an Animal & the straps of the drum were the reigns. Letting go would have meant loosing my ride. I now understand much deeper how a Shaman may refer to his drum as his steed or canoe.
Just so there are no misconceptions the Healing Drum Kit does Not teach how to Journey. For that I highly recommend Sandra Ingerman's Shamanic Journeying: A Beginner's Guide, that comes with the CD that I use & use during our groups.
Take Care,
   MFinn

How refreshing to read through the posts here today!

Just a reminder - when you heal yourself you heal others and when you heal others you heal yourself. In many ways each day we can all be healers. A simple act of kindness can make another person's morning for them. Have you every considered how "paying it forward" can cause a ripple effect in human conscious on a large scale?

Dis-ease is just that - not at ease. Removing tension that blocks natural body flow and natural healing energy is a big part of healing.

Non - attachment is freedom and it is the freedom from tension and all the unneccessary baggage that we carry around draining our energy and making us weak. Add compassion, unconditional Love, Kindness, Be Free and Be the Healer!

One Love,
Dave

      Greetings All,
This is my first time here so I'll say a little about when, why, how. One of the biggest things I started doing that made changes toward being who I am today was listening to my heart. I had a bad habit of ignoring that voice. Deciding that there were no coincidences was also a big part.Believing that things are happening for a reason has helped me see the spiritual in the mundane. Always looking for what part I play in every conflict I have has made one of the biggest differences. Recently I had a run in with a very angry man who pushed me into the edge of an open laundromat washing machine and bruised my ribs pretty badly. Everyone kept saying ,"oh poor you".I didn't say anything but I wasn't buying it. I sat in the tub that night and looked for what part I played in the incedent. Eventually I saw what I needed to learn from it and then started drawing the negative energy from my injury into my heart intending to change it to love then sending it to the guy who hurt me. It was obvious he needed love. That night felt like a turning point for me. Being thankful for all that is in my life has also been one of the most important factors in transforming my life. Things have been on fast forward for me lately and these items above are the biggest factors I can see helping me become a "healer". Drawing the spiritual down into the physical world in ALL you do is a good way to sum it up. One other important thing I've learned. Rather than hating the things in the world that make me angry i now try not to get emotionally attatched and just surround that which needs healing with love. Love is eternal. All else is an illusion.
Blessings to all,
Andy

      sophia,
You may not think of yourself as a healer but I am sure that all the pregnant women you see & all the babies you help transition into this world do as well as all the other people you help, fathers included. We had a midwife at my son's birth & it was more peaceful & natural then I could ever image it being if the person explaining things to me & my wife & the first person that touched my son was in a sterile gown with a mask on his face. Midwives help empower women so they do not need all the medical stuff that today's society believes must go along with a birth. You help eliminate dis-ease. In any sense that is a healer
You give people tools to heal themselves! What more can a true healer do? An M.D. may give a patient a drug to heal but the drug is only a tool. An M.D. may give someone a fish (or snake oil) while the work you do & many of us other healers do is teach them to grow their own gardens & feed themselves, body, mind & soul.
Everyone,
If you are not sure if you are a healer then you probably are one. Shout out to the Universe, say it loud & proud, "I am a Healer!!!" & see the results.
Love & Light,
   MFinn

I wanted to share with everyone a review on a recent purchase I made. I bought the HEALING DRUM KIT by CHRISTINE STEVENS. It comes with 2 CDs a small hoop drum & rhythm cards. On the CD's she talks you through simple rhythms & then you can play along with them. All the tracks are separate so its easy to isolate one & play it on a loop. The cards are great for visually seeing how simple a beat can be. The drum is 10" Remo frame drum that is great for starting with or if you don't have a drum this size it is great for travel.
Anyway it is a great way to learn to use the drum as a healing tool for yourself & others.
I got the kit from Amazon for about $32 & I think it is well worth it.
I can't wait for our next drum circle.
Take Care,
MFinn

I do not think of myself as a healer. I rather see myself as a midwife, a ferryman, a medial. People come to me when they are going through a transition, a state of liminality, and need guidance across the confusion and stuckness. I take those who come to me from one state to the next. I give them the tools to heal themselves, or to show them how to tap into their passion. I see myself as a void walker, I can see in the dark. It took me many years to realize that is what I do, because I first had to let go of all yearning for permanence and surety. I was not so much something I decided to do but it was for me rather a case of realizing that is what I am already doing.

      Dear MFinn,
Thank you for the invitation to join this pod which I have browsed and come to the conclusion that the best contribution I can offer to anyone here is to suggest either of the following:
1. Read my book The Milk Is White as there is a lot of information directly and indirectly relevant to "Healing" in general.
2. With reference to healing relative to illness of any sort, "Search" the text, Contents and Index for references to illness, health, body etc. A starting point could be the entry entitled The Body - Its Making (with or without an apostrophe after the t.)

After that, of course, I can answer questions if there are any.

The book can be accessed free via my Profile page.
()
