Intro from Jayne

Jayne said Mar 21, 2009, 11:15 PM:

Thanks for the welcome. I am just getting started with Holosync (several days). I've heard about it off and on over the years, but wasn't attracted enough to start working with it. I am a long time meditator - vipassana primarily - although have trailed off in my regular practice. I connected with John Dupuy recently who's developed an Integral Recovery process and he uses this as a part of the program. I am director of a homeless shelter and am going to train with him this summer in this process to ideally implement with people who are homeless and addicted. So, thought that I should get familar with holosync as part of my personal ILP. We'll see! I haven't yet looked around the group discussions, but plan to shortly. Happy you are here and interested in those who use this as a component of their ILP (if there's a specific thread on that, perhaps you could point it out - thanks!).

Blessings,

jayne

Hi! Jayne
I am a noob with Holosync too, couldn't help wondering what's ILP. I am interested in Vippassana too, but haven't been able to attend a retreat yet, how has your experience been with V?
I love reading Eckhart Tolle and everything that I am finding these days connects me back to his teachings.

hugs!

Hi Jayne and Kyo,

ILP stands for Integral Life Practise, there is an ILP Group here on Gaia of which I am a moderator. This is the start of the group description;

Integral Life Practice is an approach to personal & spiritual development created by Integral Institute. It's an attempt to organize the myriad techniques, traditions, methods and philosophies of self-development into a practical path for the 21st
century.

There are 4 “core modules” of practice: Body, Mind, Spirit, and Shadow.”

The idea behind ILP is that you need to have practices in these 4 core modules for sustainable development, Holosync would be regarded as a practice in the Spirit Module. There is a recently published book that is a great introduction to ILP and you can download the 1st two chapters from that website.

I hope I have peeked your curiosity without making this too much of a sales pitch, feel free to ask me any questions by PM or even better join the ILP group and ask there.

Best wishes,

Davybuoy

Good quick intro Davybuoy. I have been sending similar intros to friends on ILP 101 to see if their curiousity is peaked. I'll check out your group.

Hi Jayne,

Welcome to the pod!

I'm friends with John, we met this summer at the Integral Theory Conference. I love how Holosync is spreading to disadvantaged groups!

Hello Pelle - What a small world! Do you know of any others who are using Holosync with disadvantaged groups? This idea that I have is a bit out there (i.e., using it as part of an ILP with people who are homeless or transitioning out of homelessness and who may or may not have an addiction - probably no small feat here!). My thoughts go in the direction of using it in transitional homes - similar to a Catholic Worker House of Hospitality (I live in one now as a 'worker' with women who are transitioning or may not actually 'transition'). The idea of attempting to work with people who are living at the shelter and on the street all day amidst drama and chaos, doesn't seem all that do-able (or potentially effective). Still in brainstorming and experimentation stage. Am looking forward to learning more from John and his work as life progresses here.

Hi Jayne Marie,

I have tried to work with a disadvantaged group with Holosync, but changed over to Metatones for a few reasons.  I realize you are wanting to do the ILP thing with your homeless people, so what I am doing may not fit the criteria (me not being familiar with ILP).

The girls found the interactivity involved more appealing, and I am able to fit more people into the same time frame. Also the results are seen more quickly.

I can share more with you in a PM if you are interested.
