Awakening Level 1

Hi

I'm 3 weeks into this and just wondered…the 'singing bowls' aspect of 'the dive' seems very muted compared to Awakening prologue and there is a 'deep' hum in the background of immersion. Is this the case for everyone or is there a problem with my disc?

Part of the reason you are experiencing a different kind of sound has to do with the newer technology on the levels past Awakening Prologue. Instead of the sound going through your head as in normal stereo, it is around your head.

It sounds as if you may have left your “base boost” on if you are hearing the binaurals (that's the deep hum you are hearing in the background) at this particular level. I know that they are audible somewhat at some of the deeper levels, although you will eventually lose consciousness of hearing them later because of the lower carriers used. If the rain sounds like it's coming in spikes, it may be that you are listening to it too loud as well, which could account for hearing the binaurals in the background. But I'd be more inclined to look at the “base boost” first. If possible, if you have a stereo that has the option, listen to it “flat”, with no enhancements from the stereo - including do not use “dolby” surround sound, as it tends to defeat the surround sound effect already incorporated in the CD.

If you've checked out these factors and you're still hearing the “hum”, then perhaps you should call Centerpointe for further ideas - people have been known to get the occasional bad disc - not often, but with any technology, there's always the chance. Before you call them, if possible, you might want to check out the other CD's (it won't hurt you to listen to them a bit for one time) just to see if you get the same “hum” sound on all of them - they may need to replace the whole level for you, and you may as well know this before they start doing it one CD at a time.

Thanks I'll try it all out, although I'm using a basic personal cd player rather than my stereo system so I don't think it has anything fancy on it!! But I'll have a look, I had thought about checking the other discs but not quite got round to it!!!

The hum in the background I think is normal, part of the Holosync at work. Double check with Centerpointe to make sure.

I would try lowering the volume.

As long as you hear something at all it is loud enough for the technology to work. I enjoy hearing the rain and the crystal bowls, so I prefer a low but clearly audible volume.

Gem has explained why the new level may sound a bit different from AP. It's nothing to worry about as long as you feel the binaural beats working.

I've customized the exact tones as AL1 and experimented with the tone volume using Neural Programmer. Contrary to what the Bill Harris people say, one can change tone volume and still get the benefits….

actually, not Pelle. in practice, Centerpointe will not lower the volume for individuals. Harris may agree with me but he won't do anything about it…..

OK, I get what you mean.

I thought you meant the general volume that you choose to listen to, but you mean the specific volume of the binaural beats in relationship to the white noise. I guess they only want to take customization that far…

I certainly noticed a difference in the sounds from Prologue to AL1. On Prologue, it sounded like real rain, whereas now, it sounds like a repeating rain-like noise pattern. I can also hear the low hum of the binaural beat frequencies below the other sounds. This doesn't bother me, as most of the BWE stuff I've used over the years has the beat frequencies right up front, not masked behind any other sounds. Still, I think I will turn the volume down and see if the subtle approach is more effective. I have been using a portable CD player with no special settings, and a pretty decent pair of over-the-ears Sony headphones. I've been toying with the idea of hooking up to my “real” stereo system and perhaps trying earbuds, but it's pretty convenient to just have the portable right there at my meditation seat.
I'm still waiting for H/S to kick my ass, but the Universe has been doing such a good job of that over the past few years, perhaps there is no need to “up the amperage” on this poor mortal…

I've been in Awakening Level 1 (AL1) for about six weeks now, and the in the latest support letter, Bill says we can accelerate results by counting breaths in and out from 1 to 10. I thought it'd be easy to do. When I tried to do it the past couple days, I found that I could count easily during the dive, but when I switched to immersion, it became more and more difficult to keep my count. Sometimes I couldn't get past “2” before losing count. Is this normal? Has anyone had a similar experience?

This is very normal. My suggestion for when you are moving into Immersion is to just relax and listen. It's OK if the mind wanders or you day-dream or maybe even occasionally nod off. Struggling to keep up counting is counter-productive at that point, because your mind will be entering levels where it would normally have you asleep. What I sometimes do to maintain a focus, rather than count breathes, is just to focus on the breath moving in and out through the nose.

Thanks for the reply. I've been keeping it up for a past week, and now I'm able to keep counting my breaths up to 10 pretty much the whole way through. It must have just been the first day or two that made it so difficult to keep count. I'm starting CD 2 of AL1 tonight. It'll be my first experience with 1.5 Hz. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

well i just used cd 4 for 2 days level 1 woo verry tough but it will be worth it.and if any 1 is experiencing upheavel or drama counting breaths is good but if ur really at ur tollerence level sit in medataive position and breath from stomach very deeply relaces soo much energy.

My AL1 sessions seem to last so long it really pains me, compared to the Prologue. I know they are both an hour long but it is so hard to sit with AL1 without peeking at the clock during the session, both during the dive and Immersion.

Depending on how long you've been listening to the particular disk you've been on, it can mean a couple of things:
1) If you've been listening for at least 6 weeks, you may be ready to move forward to the next disc, provided you meet the other criteria outlined in the program.
2) Boredom may also be a sign that you are in some form of resistance, but not necessarily overwhelm. It's an escape mechanism. It means the program IS working, and you may need to just work your way through it - find a focus like watching your breath, or just really listening to the rain with a new appreciation of it. ;) The more antsy you feel, the more you probably need to just stick with it.

Prologue was overwhelming in one sense as it seemed to fire up the monkey mind, I guess the mile a minute jabber made the time pass quickly and was kind of enjoyable. AL1 seems to provoke a more measured train of mind jabber, I guess that accounts for the different experience of time.

It's funny that the better technology produces a sound that seems more subdued and less real, also in the dive there is a periodic squawk that I can only describe as parrot like and really distracting.

Yeah, that used to bug me, too - eventually you find ways to distract yourself away from it, but it occasionally still fires up a response. That's where activating “The Witness” comes in handy - looking at your response and why you might be having it (other than pure esthetics of sound, of course). It actually is a very careless/clumbsy brush of the “bowl” that probably should have had a “retake” before it was incorporated as background. Whomever was doing the playing of the bowls needed more lessons, methinks.

Thanks for the explanation, that will make it less of a trigger. I think I was worried that there was a glitch with the beats or something, should have just asked support or posted here straight away
