Cd Players

This has probably been covered already, so if anyone can direct me to where it's been discussed, I'd appreciate it.

I put my Awakening Prologue CD's on an IPOD, and have been listening to it there, with ear buds. I called the Center, and they said that was fine. Now after reading all these posts, I'm thinking I really should listen to the CD's on a CD player with decent headphones, especially as I am about ready to move on to the next level.

But I don't have a small CD player, I just have a big boom boxy thing. Also, my son just recently got me some great new headphones for my birthday, but they are noise cancelling. Looks like that feature can be turned off though, so I'm hoping that would be fine??

What do people use for CD players? Are the little portable ones fine, and if so, what features does one look for in one? I feel a little silly that I really have no idea what to buy, but the whole portable CD thing sort of passed me by as I have never been big on going around with earphones on.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I think the post you are looking for is this post where I discussed my own and another's experiences with CD players and boom boxes. Since I see that you have the boom box, I'd suggest you really don't need to go out and spend money on a CD player, unless you want it for something else besides Holosync. It's not like you'll be running around the block while you're listening, but it is at least portable enough to move from place to place. If it has a setting for “flat”, as opposed to bass enhancing, or enhancing for different kinds of music, use the “flat” setting.

If you still think you want to use a CD player, I suggest you don't skimp on quality - especially if you intend to continue using it into the higher levels, as the head-phone drivers will need to be able to support upgraded head-phones, which tend to pull more “juice”, apparently.

Regarding the noise cancelling head-phones, as long as you can turn the noise cancelling off, they should be fine at least until you hit Awakening Level 4, at which time you will need 'phones that support the lower carrier levels - not all 'phones are created equal to the task.

One possible reason that listening from CD's might be better is that even if you use a lossless format MP3 players have limits on the low frequencies they output that may cut off content from the track. I guess traditional stereos might too but I haven't found definate sources to provide a comparison. So there is no point buying expensive headphones that can emit the low frequencies if they are not being output by your source system.
