Remembering what you are witnessing

If you view my profile you will see GTD as one of my interests, this is the Getting Things Done methodology of David Allen.  This is in essence a project management technique (although it is also so much more) and the project you are managing is your LIFE! One of the core principles to to get “open loops” which is everything you have ever committed to or even thought of written down as your mind is not the place to store all this stuff. I haven't systematically implemented this although I have tried and think it is worth pursuing.

When I am in the Dive it brings up a lot of open loops and it is hard to just witness them and let them go. Also the shear volume means I frequently don't remember that much by the end of the Immersion. So I thought it would be good to capture this in someway and this is the question I asked Centerpointe support;

“During my Holosync sessions so many issues come up that it is hard to keep track of them all when I am just witnessing and not engaging them with conscious thought. Obviously opening my eyes and making a quick note is going to affect the entrainment process, but what about if I had a voice activated Dictaphone and said some thing like “I notice I am thinking about x”. Not developing the thought but just recording the subject and then letting it go. I could then develop these thoughts later and take what ever action in appropriate, which would hopefully stop them coming up repeatedly in subsequent sessions.”

And the reply was;

“I do not recommend this practice and it will detract from your session. Any benefit gained from noting a thought of idea would not be worth jeopardizing the consistency of your one hour session.
There is no reason to do any action to prevent them from arising in subsequent sessions. Just accept tha tthe thought is there and watch it. Your awareness alone will release any thought or belief
that does not serve you”

I guess this reply surprised me as I thought my idea was quite benign. It's not that I want to “Prevent these ideas coming up again”, rather that by taking appropriate action I could close some loops and make room for other open loops to come to my attention.  I am seriously overwhelmed by all my open loops and having a midlife/existential crisis right now and the solution is not to meditate it away. I thought meditation and Holosync would help me be prepared to take action, should I be spending my time and money on life coaching/ some kind of therapy instead?

I would appreciate some feedback from more experienced meditators/Holosyncers on this.

One of the objectives of any meditative practice is just to allow the mind to clear on its own - and in a sense, your wanting to “close loops” is either forcing the issue or could interfere with it.  Left on it's own in meditation, and especially when that meditation is held deeper than most people can do on their own, the mind will bring up stuff to “explode the bombs” we throw at it continually.  It doesn't really need our help to do this, expect to stay the heck out of the way!  So I definitely agree with Centerpointes view on this.

If it is important enough for you to be involved in the process beyond witnessing what it shows you, your mind will ensure you remember it, or it will come up at a time other than when you are meditating.  That is the time for you to “close the loop”, while you are fully conscious.  That's why Bill says “Let it all be OK” for whatever arises during the Holosync meditation.

Noting that you've indicated you are “seriously overwhelmed by all my open loops and having a midlife/existential crisis right now” if you just relax and allow the Holosync to do what it was designed to do, you'd probably find many of the loops dissolving on their own, without the need for your input.  The thought occurs to me that part of the reason for your overwhelm is that you are insisting on doing it yourself, when you probably don't have the “recognition” tools (NLP being one) that would assist you in the process of doing it consciously.  The other part of that NLP recognition process would involve “anchoring in” states that you do want in your life. (Nature abhors a vacuum, even one in something as nebulous as “mind-matter”.)  Seems to me that trying to remember all of it would also impose extra stress you don't need to be piling on what you already are experiencing.

So my suggestion, FWIW, is to follow the advice Centerpointe support has provided.  It does work (from my own personal experience across four years) - almost magically - if you just allow the process to proceed as they've explained it.

I guess this is what I am missing, stuff comes up in my sessions but gets lost in the rush. I know that somethings will dissolve and be released in their own time, but I can't help feeling that I am missing opportunities.

Great post!!!!  I was actually in a one day session with David Allen and his thoughts were wonderful.  I'm have an extensive background in running small to mid size projects… and found his stuff awesome.  I will say that everybody I know that started implementing “getting things done” started out with intense vigor and then weened off it until they were comfortable in getting their stuff done.  One thing that he had going for him is that he traveled a lot.  This gave him a lot of “off” time to make calls, write everything down, follow-up, …

As per you question:
My thought is to consiously request that your mind remember whatever is important for you to follow-up with after the HS meditation.  Do this before you start HS and after the session (or some time later, who knows when the information will come back) write it down and allow/request your sub-consious mind to help you resolve/release/… whatever the issue is.  Of course you may not have to do anything but be the witness, just flow with the water and try not to swim against the current.
