Hi Deb:
Another thing you might consider is to have ear-phones (as Polly suggested around the ear), that have separate volume settings for both ears. That way you could adjust the sound for the ear that isn't as good for hearing. As to some of the sounds on Awakening Prologue, if you can just bear with these until you get into the next level, because of the different “smoother” technology used in the remaining levels, you'll notice quite a difference in how things sound - not quite as harsh.
Most people don't really consciously “hear” the binaural beats anyways, listening at normal / reasonable volume levels - it is the strength of the carrier and frequency that actually helps create the binaural effect - not the loudness or lack of loudness.
The other thing to consider is that some people don't see changes for much longer than four months - and unless you've been keeping a daily diary, you may not have noticed incrementally smaller changes that have been happening, until one day you suddenly realize the distance travelled. So try a different ear-phone configuration, please, before giving up. Also, keep in mind - this is not a race to a finish line.
I'm also wondering if you've had your ears tested lately. This would be interesting to do before you move into the levels where the Autofonix “silent” affirmations is used (after Awakening Prologue), as Autofonix has been noted to actually improve hearing, so once you've moved up to Awakening Level 1, you may find that your hearing does improve over time.
Be well! Gem
