Positive "Side Effects" from the Silent Affirmations....

Eric said Aug 23, 2006, 7:32 PM:

Hi All,
Thanks to Pelle for starting this pod. I think this could be of great moral support to those of us using the program. For starters, I've experienced what I consider really stellar results from using this program, but I won't go into that here. Anyone interested can read more on my Zaadaz page and blog page.

What I'd like to discuss are some of the really positive “side effects” from listening to the silent affirmations on both the Dive/Immersion and Floating CDs (I'm currently in the middle of Awakening Level 2). Although I can't say for sure whether or not the actual subliminal messages are making a difference (though I do indeed seem to be consistently “living” many of the affirmations I remember recording), I've undoubtedly experienced benefits as the result of the ultra high frequency used as the carrier wave for the affirmations. Bill Harris mentions that this high frequency carrier wave actually energizes the inner ear (in the same that Alfed Tomatis' sound therapy does), which in turn energizes the mind and body. It seems that urban noise tends to de-energize the inner ear over time.

So, as a result of this energizing of the inner ear, I've experienced the following positive side effects: I regularly get by with at least 10%-20% less sleep than I used to(and sometimes wake up feeling fully rested after only four or five hours of sleep); I've noticed a marked (but healthy) decline in appetite (with consequent weight loss); I've noticed the presence of a marked sense of well-being, and even a life-changing increase in the ability to focus (with a correspondening increase in “accelerated” learning). And I used to suffer many of the symptoms of ADD (and bipolar disorder), but no longer.

These benefits were not noticed during the course of listening to Awakening Prologue (though there were, of course, other positive changes noticed while using it without the subliminals). And they only became noticeable after roughly a month of having graduated to listening to the next level of Dive and Immersion tracks, as well as the Floating track (which is listened to over the course of the night, while sleeping), all three of which contain the silent subliminals. Since then, these benefits have remained. And since they coincide completely with the reported benefits of listening to Tomatis' Sound Therapy, I believe they are the result of having that ultra high carrier frequency present on the higher levels of the program.

Anyway, whether or not the subliminals really make a difference, the high frequency carrier wave certainly does. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Best Regards,
Eric

I'm on Awakening Level 1, disc 2, so I haven't gotten that far into the affirmations.  Though the last couple of weeks I have noticed that I have an upsurge of confidence and energy when I finish listening each day.  It's something new and different that I didn't feel with Awakening Prologue.  Confidence would certainly be one of the things I geared my affirmations towards.

A question with floating.  I've had trouble getting used to sleeping with the headphones.  Any suggestions?

I have a sobakawa buckwheat hull pillow. I just dig a little hole in it to place my headphones. I'm a side sleeper so that works perfectly. I have those giant headphones that no one wants to be seen in outside the house.

You can get the flat headphones that fit behind the neck, too. They may help you sleep easier.

Sleep? I still need my seven to nine hours to feel rested. I love ten hours of sleep if I can get away with it. I've been listening to Holosync for about three years, but have not moved to higher levels as often as I should.

Affirmations? I wish I knew where I put the affirmations I read because now I can't remember them.

Benefits: I am able to handle more stress (than before I started with Holosync) with less problems with my temper! Stressful things happen, but I don't resort to my old coping techniques like fretting, excessive worry, depression, and excessive crying. In effect, I've become more grown-up!

Eric, reading your post makes me think that I should add the silent affirmations for my next level. I actually used affirmations for a couple of levels but then got rid of them. Is it possible to record them online nowadays, or does one still have to send a tape? (just now I checked the participants page on centerpointe.com but I could find no link for recording online. Didn't Bill promise to add this at some point?).

I'm impressed that you've been able to notice these benefits from the ultrahigh frequencies, that's something I wasn't able to do when using them. But then again back then I was processing so much stuff (and resisting change!) to such an extent that my powers of perception were pretty diminished.

Another question for all of you: are you using the Floating soundtracks, and if you are, what is your experience? I've never used them (although I've now managed to reach Purification 1), and I think that is because I fear entraining my brain for that many hours each day. I'm fine with doing one hour of Holosync daily, but shouldn't the brain be allowed “to do its thing” while sleeping? Or is this just an irrational fear of mine? All input is much appreciated.

Re: using Floating

J~E~S~S said Aug 24, 2006, 8:19 PM:

I used Floating only once. But here is where I have to admit my laziness. I listen to The Dive and Immersion while laying down going to sleep. That's the only hour I can carve out to dedicate to only doing one thing. I multitask all day until bedtime. And, since I already admitted I love my sleep, I've never willed myself to wake up an hour earlier to slip on the headphones.

So when I used Floating, it was to replace The Dive and Immersion. I decided I'd rather dedicate my time to the latter.

But I remember Mr. Harris writing that your brain can handle the two hours a day, as long as it's two different soundtracks. Or you can listen to The Dive once and Immersion twice consecutively if you want an hour and a half.

Hi Pelle,
The way I recorded my affrimations was over a cell phone. It was pretty convenient; just call the #, and record your affirmations over the phone. I do use the Floating track nightly, and am convinced that this is the main reason I have noticed such strong benefits from the high frequency carrier wave used to deliver the subliminals. The benefits I mentioned (decreased appetite and need for sleep, increased well-being and focus), again, are primarily, I believe, from the subliminal carrier wave (aka Autofonix). Whereas the benefits from using the actual Holosync binaural-beat technology have been much, much more profound. Lifelong problems and addictions I thought I'd never be able to touch otherwise have “fallen away” all of themselves. I have found that a good cognitive framework helps facilitate and deepen the process more effectively; such as, Buddhist teachings, the teaching of various Nondual traditions, A Course In Miracles, Devotional Nonduality, Ken Wilber's AQAL framework, etc……

Take Care,
Eric

P.S. - I also listen to the Floating track on repeat all night long. That is probably why I've noticed such a strong energization of the inner ear and its subsequent positive “side effects.”

OK, I get it. Obviously the results from Autofonix are much stronger if you use it all night long as opposed to one hour daily. For some reason that point never crossed my mind…

I'll give that a try! But listening all night with my clunky headphones will not be comfortable, even with a custom made hole in my buckwheat pillow. What kind of headphones do you have, Eric?

Hi all,

I'm still in the first two weeks of the Awakening Prologue, so I'm nowhere near having to think about affirmations yet, but it occurs to me that, aside from the… (hmmm, trying to avoid Integral/AQAL jargon here) physical/technical benefits of the subliminal affirmations (that's the UR aspects – i.e. individual/exterior – for those of you familiar with Integral Theory), the affirmations add a different level of intentionality to the Holosync meditation session (the UL – or individual/interior – aspect) because you know that the affirmations are there and what they are, so they're at least in the back of your mind or in your subconscious (regardless of the technical side of the subliminal message) as you meditate.

Anyway, just a thought.

~G

Yes Grey, you're quite right that it's both.

The sounds of the affirmations has a kind of Tomatis effect which affects the nervous system, and the content of the affirmations aims to affect the subconscious mind.

Grey,

Affirmations, or programming are most effective during Theta states. If the affirmations are actually effective during Delta, then it would take attention away from the “Delta experience.”

Also, there can be no effective practice or group communal sharing of effects of high frequency affirmations, since there is no objective evidence of said effects. Per integral practice, there are no valid injunctions.

There are valid injunctions for Holosync type delta practices however, since there are observable phenomena that can be shared through a communtity such as this.

Interesting stuff.  I had come to think that subliminal affirmations probably had no effect whatsoever, as that's the prevailing opinion if you do some random Googling.  But after reading this, I think I might as well go ahead and get the affirmations if/when I order my next levels.

Hi,

I'm share holosync with my partner, so we didn't get the affirmations. I'm doing AL 1 without affirmations, but with 90 minutes of floating after immersion, and I'm needing an hour less sleep a night (most nights) after a month.

As a side note, I can't sleep through Gamma at all. If I add it to the playlist, it wakes me up.

Red,

Gamma is too high a frequency to sleep on. It's usually best during “waking” hours.

Hey all!

I'd like to add my experience with the affirmations here. I'm a newbie, started AL1 about a month ago, but it was very interesting for me to record the affirmations.

I spent quite a while rewriting and refining my affirmations before recording them, and I was very excited about it. Once I got it down, I rehearsed it a few times to nail it down to exactly five minutes, and then I recorded them over the cell phone.

After a few takes, I was satisfied with the recording, and approved it. After I hung up, I was absolutely ecstatic! The simple act of recording the affirmations made it more real for me. I haven't read them in a while, and I'm starting to have a hard time sitting still and my mind was all over the friggin' place today, but I'm gratified by the fact that my own words are being repeated to me during this process.

I would recommend doing the affirmations, even if you decide not to record them on to the soundtracks!

Jeff

Hi,
Im still trying to decide on affirmations or not.  Do they really add to the process or are they an exercise in self awareness as you have described and a marketing ploy on the part of the company as others have said?
Im at that point. Id like to share the program with my son so naturally Id skip the affirmations. But what is the impact of this skipping?

Hi Claire:

I have on other threads indicated that the affirmations, to this point in time, haven't had an effect, but I may have to recant on that, given that examination of what I had originally put on the CD's does now seem to be coming into focus for me.  Especially since I changed them going into A2 level, to be more focused on non-spiritual areas.

One thing that re-reading this thread did bring to mind was that I HAVE experienced a noticeable improvement in hearing.  My ability to determine directionality of sound has come up considerably over the last three years, and I seem to have developed a greater appreciation for the bass parts in music, that wasn't there before.

If you are planning to share with your son (and he is aware of this), then why not sit down together with the list of affirmations from Centerpointe, as well as your own lists, and find something that would be mutually satisfying IF they were to be of value for you.  At least that way you would get the benefit of the Autofonix.

If you order the Gamma CD with your levels (which Centerpointe has been encouraging people to do), you will be exposed to the Autofonix there, as they have specific affirmations they have chosen for this CD.

Hi Claire,

Looking back now, I originally I identified an affirmation from a list that Centerpointe provided, taped it onto a cassette, and sent it in.   I still use the same one.  For the most part it was, and still is,  very hard for me to say that the affirmation has done anything. On the flip side, what I asked for I have now (the affirmation was around being successful and being financially secure).  Was it from the affirmation, was it my focus, my saying it a thousand times before I taped it, who knows:) ???

IMHO, I think if you are planning on selling the CD's when you are finished then don't use an affirmation.  If your goal is around meditation and you have areas you specifically want to focus on then I would use the affirmations.  I have yet to hear that they hurt anybody.  At the moment if you are going to share the program with your son then Gem's idea sounds like a win-win.  In the future, you can change your affirmations depending on the situation at hand.

I hope this helps and great luck in the future,

Nomaders
