Ack! I nearly forgot! Sorry for the lateness! :-)

:: Friday Five :: Week 17 :: School ::

How to participate: 1) Join holy memes and kosmic blog starters
and check it out every Friday for a different set of five questions. 2)
Copy and paste those questions (and this message!) into your blog. 3)
Tag your entry with the words “Friday Five” and post it. 4) Come back
to the pod and tell us about your post. 5) Message suzanne with ideas for next week. Let's spread the seeds!

This week we're going to take a more whimsical walk down memory lane and into our school days. Thanks so much Kati : Re-former Kati!

Where did you go to elementary school, middle school, high school?
Who was your favorite teacher and why? Who was the scariest teacher and why?
What subjects did you excel in and why? What subjects were not so great to study and why?
Did what you learned in elementary school, middle school, high school really help you in college? If Yes, then how – If not, then what would have been better for you?

Where did you go to elementary school, middle school, high school?
My parents were in the military so I bounced around the Western United States for school.
For high school I went to a small co-ed boarding school in San Diego county.

Who was your favorite teacher and why?
I basically loved all of my teachers. I was in love with a few but mostly I loved the education itself.
Who was the scariest teacher and why?
In the past my answer for this would have been difernt, i think there was a Mrs Anderson that scared the crap out of me as a child but she was actually very good to me. I adored her but she took no guff. But these days I'm convienced that it was a man called Sir. his name was Richard Loderstat and he was in his 50's and living with his ailing mother. He was kinda mean to the kids and would make us play this game called bar tag. the rules were simeple, it was tag but you were safe if you were on a piece of play ground equipment (slides…). anyway, the game was fun but some times he would do things like hold a kids hands on the monkey bars making the child hang there until the kid would cry from pain. also he would knock peopl edown and toss sand in their faces. then for me personally the worst was this. One day he banned me from playing sports because i was to much better then the other kids. I got so pissed i destroyed the boys restroom at the school and then called my parents at work.

What subjects did you excel in and why?
I did well in school. I just loved it!!

What subjects were not so great to study and why?
spelling. I am a bad speller. Just never really cared about it.

Did what you learned in elementary school, middle school, high school really help you in college? If Yes, then how - If not, then what would have been better for you?
Everything I learned in school helped me at the next stages of my education. the most import thing you learn in school is social interaction and that it will not kill you to fail or to succeed.

Okay, late catching up but here it is.  And a copy:

Where did you go to elementary school, middle school, high school?
The northwest suburbs of Chicago - Kensington Elementary, Miner Junior High, Prospect High School.

Who was your favorite teacher and why? Who was the scariest teacher and why?
I liked most of my teachers.  A candidate for both favorite and scariest was my English teacher in high school, Mrs. Vandergriff.  She was the only teacher EVER to send a note home to my PARENTS saying I was getting a BAD GRADE!!!  She actually scared me into putting some effort in (because school was mostly so easy for me) and taught me a lot of good literature and writing skills.

What subjects did you excel in and why? What subjects were not so great to study and why?
I was good at all the academic subjects.  I had trouble with speech class because I was so shy, and P.E. because I just wasn't interested.

Did what you learned in elementary school, middle school, high school really help you in college? If Yes, then how - If not, then what would have been better for you?
Academics, yes.  Social/life skills, not so much.  Encouragement and support for individual expression, maybe some more self-defense classes, would have been better.
