I've been busy and will get back to zaadz soon. Wanted to share this with you. It's by Deepak Chopra and from Ode Magazine. You can read the entire article HERE

Judging by grassroots activity, the following trends will continue to shape spiritual life:

• Meditation will become mainstream.
• Elements of the miraculous and paranormal will be widely acknowledged.
• Alternative forms of healing, both physical and psychological, will become commonplace.
• Prayer will be seen as real and efficacious.
• Manifestation of desires will be talked about as a real phenomenon.
• People will regain a connection to their souls.
• Individuals will find answers inwardly to their deepest spiritual questions. They will believe in their private answers and live accordingly.
• New communities of belief will arise.
• Gurus and other spiritual authorities will wane in influence.
• Wisdom traditions will grow to embrace the great spiritual teachings at the heart of organized religion.
• Faith will no longer be seen as an irrational departure from reason and science.
• Wars will decline as peace becomes a social reality.
• Nature will regain its sacred value.

Millions of people already embody these trends in their own lives. They abide by the values of the new spirituality. Events may mask this widespread revolution in spiritual values, but outward events have always been a poor guide to what is happening at the soul level.

That's the bottom line of an outburst of high-powered optimism gathered from the world-class scientists and thinkers who frequent the pages of Edge, in an ongoing conversation among third culture thinkers (i.e., those scientists and other thinkers in the empirical world who, through their work and expository writing, are taking the place of the traditional intellectual in rendering visible the deeper meanings of our lives, redefining who and what we are.)

The 2007 Edge Question marks the 10th anniversary of Edge, which began in December, 1996 as an email to about fifty people.
      My answers.

And to save you a click -

1) If time and money were not an issue, where would you go, for how long, and why?
Italy, because I was born there and don't remember it. India, to the Osho meditation resort, the Ganges, many other places. Ireland, Turkey, Moscow, the Amazon, the Andes.

2) What do you love about travelling?
Freedom, surprises, the sensation of movement.

3) What do you not love about travelling?
Security lines at airports, not knowing where I'll sleep or eat, sore feet.

4) Out of all the places you've been, what are your top travel destinations? Why?
I haven't been many places for travel other than to visit family - my favorite right now is travelling around here, the Pacific Northwest. Great climate, great scenic beauty, a couple nice cities, no airport lines.

5) Where have you been that you would caution other people to avoid? Why?
There are places I didn't like so much (short tourist cruise to the Bahamas, suburbs of Chicago, Gary, Indiana), but other people might - so it's up to them!

Okay, late catching up but here it is. And a copy:

Where did you go to elementary school, middle school, high school?
The northwest suburbs of Chicago - Kensington Elementary, Miner Junior High, Prospect High School.

Who was your favorite teacher and why? Who was the scariest teacher and why?
I liked most of my teachers. A candidate for both favorite and scariest was my English teacher in high school, Mrs. Vandergriff. She was the only teacher EVER to send a note home to my PARENTS saying I was getting a BAD GRADE!!! She actually scared me into putting some effort in (because school was mostly so easy for me) and taught me a lot of good literature and writing skills.

What subjects did you excel in and why? What subjects were not so great to study and why?
I was good at all the academic subjects. I had trouble with speech class because I was so shy, and P.E. because I just wasn't interested.

Did what you learned in elementary school, middle school, high school really help you in college? If Yes, then how - If not, then what would have been better for you?
Academics, yes. Social/life skills, not so much. Encouragement and support for individual expression, maybe some more self-defense classes, would have been better.

Since I'm going to be out of the country for the next 10 days, I thought I'd do an apt subject. I'll still be around a computer and hopefully post next week's Friday Five from my home away from home. :-)

:: Friday Five :: Week 18 :: Travel ::
How to participate: 1) Join holy memes and kosmic blog starters
and check it out every Friday for a different set of five questions. 2)
Copy and paste those questions (and this message!) into your blog. 3)
Tag your entry with the words “Friday Five” and post it. 4) Come back
to the pod and tell us about your post. 5) Message suzanne with ideas for next week. Let's spread the seeds!

1) If time and money were not an issue, where would you go, for how long, and why?
2) What do you love about travelling?
3) What do you not love about travelling?
4) Out of all the places you've been, what are your top travel destinations? Why?
5) Where have you been that you would caution other people to avoid? Why?

Where did you go to elementary school, middle school, high school?
My parents were in the military so I bounced around the Western United States for school.
For high school I went to a small co-ed boarding school in San Diego county.

Who was your favorite teacher and why?
I basically loved all of my teachers. I was in love with a few but mostly I loved the education itself.
Who was the scariest teacher and why?
In the past my answer for this would have been difernt, i think there was a Mrs Anderson that scared the crap out of me as a child but she was actually very good to me. I adored her but she took no guff. But these days I'm convienced that it was a man called Sir. his name was Richard Loderstat and he was in his 50's and living with his ailing mother. He was kinda mean to the kids and would make us play this game called bar tag. the rules were simeple, it was tag but you were safe if you were on a piece of play ground equipment (slides…). anyway, the game was fun but some times he would do things like hold a kids hands on the monkey bars making the child hang there until the kid would cry from pain. also he would knock peopl edown and toss sand in their faces. then for me personally the worst was this. One day he banned me from playing sports because i was to much better then the other kids. I got so pissed i destroyed the boys restroom at the school and then called my parents at work.

What subjects did you excel in and why?
I did well in school. I just loved it!!

What subjects were not so great to study and why?
spelling. I am a bad speller. Just never really cared about it.

Did what you learned in elementary school, middle school, high school really help you in college? If Yes, then how - If not, then what would have been better for you?
Everything I learned in school helped me at the next stages of my education. the most import thing you learn in school is social interaction and that it will not kill you to fail or to succeed.
