A few years back I heard this one somewhere, and it has stuck with me and served me well:

Satisfaction = Performance/Expectation

(Satisfaction equals Performance divided by Expectation).

The higher your expectations are, the better performance is needed in order for you to be satsisfied. The classic use of this is movies. If you go into a movie knowing it sucks, then you can come out quite satisfied. If you go in thinking it will be great, and it's not, you feel so unsatisfied. It's pretty useful in all kinds of situations.

For what it's worth...

Aeryck

      Share a quot that you have carried with you for a long time that still 'works' for you.

Mine is from my childhood. I was 8 of 9 and had a friend in her 80's that I used to play cards with. I don't remember what game ~ could have been poker of 'go fish'.

What I remember are the conversations. I asked her once how she knew so much. she laughed and said, "Honey all you have to do is stay alive and pay attention."
