  Jen : Wilderness Lover

Children viewing birds (and anyone else they can chase) as toys

How often have you been walking in a park, waterfront, or other public area and seen children (and some adults too) run at a flock of resting birds? Apparently many children (and adults) don't understand that 1. they are terrorizing sentient beings and 2. it's not OK.

I believe that this reflects the underlying sentiment that nonhuman animals are not worthy of any level of respect because they dob't know any better and were “created” “for” “humans”.

What do you think of a public education campaign (TV ads) that simply show a bit of “a day in the life” of nonhuman animals during regularly scheduled TV shows?

Think that would have any impact?
