HOW TO: Deal with Aggressive and Disrespectful People on Zaadz

Dear Gaians,

Gaia is growing fast! We get hundreds of new members everyday.  This is good. But along with it comes the peril of attracting people who are *not* the target audience of Gaia. These are the people who, for various reasons, exhibit aggressive and disrespectful behaviors toward other members and don't have an understanding what Zaadz is all about. Here are some suggestions on how to deal with these people if they happen to cross your path.

1) If you encounter people on Gaia who are consistently posting inappropriate content that violates our Terms of Use, and/or

2) If you encounter people who keep sending you aggressive, insulting, and obscene messages,

Please try to communicate with these people and ask what their intentions are. Never argue with them, just keep it cool :) Then point them to the Gaia Terms of Use.

If these users continue with their misconduct, or if they continue to harass you in any way, make sure to save their messages and links to their questionable content ( e.g. blogs, pods, photos), then forward them to mark as SPAM or forward them to ~Matthew and we'll deal with them accordingly.

Gaia is not a place for chaotic anarchy. Your passion and compassion are always welcome, but there's no room for idiot compassion here.

Let us harbor Love in our hearts to all.  Love, after all, does not distinguish between “good” and “bad.”  And attacking others only tends to expose our own shadow insecurities.  After all, there is no “other,” only mirrors. 

That being said, Zaadz IS meant to be a haven for those who would choose to do good in the world.  It is important for us to uproot the weeds for logistical and energetic purposes, if we are to accomplish our Mission.

One might ask, “What constitutes weed-like behavior?” (It's important to distinguish between behavior and that to whom the behavior is attached when making a judgment… again, only mirrors.  That is, we are not judging people.  We are judging behaviors).  To that question, I refer, as has ~C, to the Terms of Use Agreement.  And, account-holders who violate these terms will have their accounts terminated.  No need to explain ourselves here.  Everyone has agreed to these terms.  Everyone has signed this contract.  And if one chooses to breech the contract, our deactivation of the account is logistical, not personal.

Just for my own knowledge, what is the way you are looking to boot people out?

Are you guys looking at Slashdot/Scoop type of functionality, whereby people can “trollrate” obvious spammers and the like?

something like that. or maybe even a simple “report abuse” button will do. but the tools will evolve as Zaadz and Zaadzsters evolve :)

C4 and Matthew, you guys are doing a wonderful job. I don't see the need for anything more formal or complex than what you describe in this thread, C4, at this time.
