So how do I Bodhi-Blog? Hey, that’s a great question. I’m glad you asked! It’s not as complicated as all the mumbo-jumbo surrounding it sounds. Really, all it entails is that you share YOU with US. And doing it in a way that raises the consciousness bar wouldn’t hurt either! In fact, if your Bodhisattvic Blog ends up helping others, all the better. And if it ends up CHANGING THE WORLD, you’ll know you’re on the right track!! ;-) Now let’s get started. First, go to your profile page. That’s the one that looks like http://matthew.zaadz.com only replace “matthew” with your username. In my case, that means I would replace “matthew” with “matthew.” Whew! That was easy. Brian would replace “matthew” with “brian” and Superhotstudman47 would replace “matthew” with “coolmel”. See how that works? Good! Next, hover your mouse over the tab near the top of your profile page that reads “blog.” Then click on “new entry.” This should take you to the page where you can enter your content. Actually, you can change the date (but why play God?), enter your topic, and fill in the body. And *poof! You’re done! But… don’t forget to click “post entry” once you finish. Otherwise you may be sadly disappointed some time in the near future. So, that’s the basic idea behind Bodhi-Bloggin’, don’tchyaknow. But if you want to snazz up your entry some, perhaps you will consider adding pictures (possibly of your puppy or Brian as a little monkey baby or whatever), hypertext throughout, and tags. Pictures help make the blog look a little more fancy-pantsy, hypertext allows you to link to other sites (for that extra punch to help make your point!… or for whatever reason you want to link elsewhere), and tags allow users to search your blog using the key words you have listed as “tags”. Sound like fun? Some Dude: Yeah, Matthew, that sounds like a lot of fun. And may I just add that you are really getting me in the mood to start Bodhi-Blogging? I especially liked your explanation of why we might want to add pictures, hypertext, and tags. But I still don’t know how to add pictures, hypertext, or tags. How do I do that, Matty-watty-puddin’-in-pie? Matthew: Thanks for the question Mr. Dude. I’m really glad you asked that while I was still typing this tutorial. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known what to discuss next. Adding hypertext: This is rather simple since the good wizards at Zaadz were kind enough to add this feature right in the toolbar above the text box. First, find the word in your body that you want to use as a link to the outside cyber world and highlight it! Next, click on that symbol in the toolbar that looks like a sideways 8 (it represents a “link,” you know… like a link in a chain?). That brings up a box where you can type in the URL of the site you want to link to. Don’t forget to add the “http://” at the beginning (and if you really want to “mess” with folks, just type in the URL of the site they are already on!! Then you’ll get all sorts of messages in your inbox saying stuff like, “Hey lady! Did you know that your hyperlinks aren’t working? What’s going on? Am I clicking them wrong? Maybe something’s wrong with my mouse. I’ll go buy a new one.” He he he ha ha *cough, cough* Excuse me, I got a little carried away there). Adding Pictures: It actually took me about 9 hours to figure out how to add photos to my Bodhi-Blogs. In fact, it took me 9 hours even after I was told how to do it. And I swear… it wasn’t my fault! So, if this advice doesn’t work for you, I swear… it isn’t my fault! Ok, so what you do is find the picture you want to insert in your text box (I recommend opening a new window or tab for this). Highlight the picture. Then press Control+C (Don’t actually press “+” Just hold down the “control” key, and press “c” And this won’t work any other way… it doesn’t work if you click “edit, copy”… it doesn’t work if you right click, then click on copy, but you’re free to try if you don’t believe me). Then, go back to your text box and click where you would like to insert the picture. Then press Control+V to paste it. Adding Tags: Once you finish typing your Bodhi-Blog—after you’ve posted your entry—if you click on “view,” you will see the option to “add tags.” Just click and add, making sure to separate tags by commas. And Kablamo! You should be good to go. So, why would I want to Bodhi-Blog? Well, if all that talk about snazzing up a piece of hyperspace didn’t turn you on, consider this: You want to change the world, right? Well, the blogosphere is one of the spaces where you have the potential to spread your fluffy love to billions of people! When I first started blogging, I thought maybe two or three (if I was lucky, four) people would be checking out my blog once or twice a month. Then the wizards added a view counter, and I was able to see that on some of my blogs, I had over 200 views! This number is only going to get bigger as we continue to add more people to our site. Imagine the love, compassion, and wisdom that can be spread if thousands of people are reading your daily insights! But it’s even bigger than that! On blogs, people can leave feedback. And let me tell you, that feedback that I have received has already changed my life! These little surprises of reciprocity have made my Bodhi-Blogging experience more fun than I had bargained for. I tell you what… if you don’t absolutely love the blogging experience, I will personally refund 110% of the price of your free subscription. Deal? So what are you waiting for?! It’s time to get your blog on! |

Matthew, If people are using Safari they will not have a tool bar - as noted above. No lazy 8 to link etc.. If they have Firefox they will have the tool bar but no spell check, at least that is my case here. And this is a new MAC, darn. Peggy |

It does matter if you're using Safari! If you are, I'd recommend downloading the latest version of Firefox, and use that instead! |

The permalink gives you the URL of the blog in question. A hyperlink is something you would add as text. So you could refer to a permalink using a hyperlink. Get it? ;) |

Not. Matthew, I followed your picture instructions carefully & the results? /Users/peggyqalbia-walistarr/Pictures/MP Navigator/bar_roseswatercolory.gif Came out as a picture on my profile on my Safari But is blank on Firefox. I have the two different profile screens side by side, one shows the roses-bar & one does not. Is that not strange?:)

Back with a question… What does marking a blog “private” do for me? I mean I know what private means and all but does that mean only I ever get to see it…, or can I post it and link others to it when and if I wish…, or if people view my blog from my home page will they be able to view it…, or all of the above?
