Firefox 3.0 Download Day

~C4Chaos said Jun 17, 2008, 3:55 PM:

Hello Everyone,

Firefox 3.0 is now available for download. As you know, we at Gaia recommend using Firefox. So give Firefox 3.0 a try and help set the Guinness World Record :)

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/?p=downloadday

Once you've downloaded and installed Firefox 3.0, start using it on Gaia and use this thread to let us know of any issues with the latest version.

Thanks!

~C

Hi Ladybear,

What are “the headlines”?

Curious,

you know, in the browser bar it shows FF & Mozilla and Latest Headlines.
On FF 2.0.0.14 and before, when you roll over the headlines button all the
headlines from the world happenings open up.

UPDATE! They just started to load.
now organizing my bookmarks is going to be a lesson!

my text is smaller, and my buttons in my blog turned yellow!

can we change the text size? this is really small as i type it now

SEE ~C4s blog post

OH i just noticed that the hypertext is now PURPLE when you do it!

Interesting.  None of that has happened to me with the new FF.  But I never had (nor have) the headlines button.  I wonder if some setting in your browser that carried over is messing with the new one….

I'll work it out, and gratefully my guru will be coming by the end of the week.
he's been driving the tour van for a UK band called The Restarts.

So if I have continuing text size problems, he'll be able to find it alot faster
then me.

right now to organize my bookmarks is really testing me!
They all have folders now and i can't drag links into the folder.
the link will go under the folder, on top of the folder, but not into the folder!
LOL!
on second thought, I need the guru now!

This is fun anyway, until i totally screw something up and then go back to FF 2!

HUGS XOXO

Things seem to load faster; and I like that little star on the navigation toolbar for bookmarking a page.

When a pdf needed to open, the page with all tabs blanked out for a minute; then I got a certificate. Didn't realize this was such a big day!! Now I've told my family –Gaia told me first!

thanks to all your feedback. keep 'em coming. e.g. try your blogs, pods, photos, video embedding, books, bookmarks. let us know if you encounter any problems.

as for me, one thing i noticed is the improved loading speed! Gaia pages load faster and Firefox 3.0 looks less buggy than the previous version. sweet!

Just wanted to ask you if your new browser bar is GREY?

the other was all the same color, like a white transparent. but mine is totally grey
above our purple gaia stuff.
like where the house, stop, reload buttons are. it's grey!

is yours?
thanks!

yep. they're all grey. or more accurately, chrome. FF 3 uses the native look of the system you're using. so if you're on a Mac, FF3 would look and feel like Safari :)

here's a list of enhancements with Firefox 3.0.

Today, the back and forward buttons aren't lit. So, I can't go back to a page I was on.
They were okay last night; but not now. I didn't change any settings; so not sure what happened.

It installed faster than the jet that flies across this screen!!!
It reminds me of Safari but better…more features under the hood.

I uploaded a picture I took of my husband and that went fine.
The CoolIris function the our Dev Chris recommended works beautifully with this new Firefox and I didn't have to download it again.

I looked at all the sites and “hatting” from ~C above and tried out those links and was amazed on how user friendly it is.

My hope is that we can get a Widget in the Mac downloads for Gaia unless someone knows of one that I can put for this site in my dashboard.  I like the fact that it is not that drastic of a change and makes navigating routine and not much learning curve.  I am going to drive it a few days but I already like it.  Thanks for the referral.

I downloaded and have been using FF3 and just found a bug that probably won't get fixed until 3.1 (according to the .Mac gurus)…  I have a .mac account and can't access my iDisk via FF 3.

that sort of stinks but is a minor inconvenience - i just have to launch safari whenever i need to access my iDisk.  =(

Hi MarleMac,

Are you still having these issues?  I wasn't able to duplicate.  It could be a temp issue.  But if you're still having troubles, let me know, and I'll inform the developers.

Thanks Matthew! Thanks for getting back to me….WHEWWW!

It was temp, looks like, I left it for a while, and because I was in such a huff, forgot where I posted this!

I went and had a look at Firefox site, discovered addons and the rest is history!

All fixed, screen looks beautiful and

                                                     Firefox is magic!

Don't know what happened, but whatever it was, its OK now, thanks to whatever fixed it!
Just another challenge in my life conquered by JKG (just keep going) !!!!

I could even get to the support pod finally and wanted to post a thank you there…but here you are!

Have an absolute stunning day!
We've had snowfall around us on our mountains, no central heating, so my hotwater bottle  is keeping me company on my next excursion into the magical world of gaia!
