TIP: Take Advantage of Tags!

Tags are a keywords that aggregate stuff on Zaadz. For example, if you want to find ALL blog posts about meditation, you can just type this URL on your browser's address bar:

http://www.zaadz.com/blogs/tags/meditation

You can do this on all things that interest you. Just replace the keyword after tags/ with whatever and Zaadz will pull ALL the blog stuff that are tagged with that keyword.

For example:

http://www.zaadz.com/blogs/tags/cooking 

http://www.zaadz.com/blogs/tags/philosophy

http://www.zaadz.com/blogs/tags/fluffy

Tags are also available on other Zaadz features such as zBooks, zEvents, zPages, and (soon) on zPhotos. Note that it will also be available on other future Zaadz features.

http://biz.zaadz.com/tagged/vegan 

http://events.zaadz.com/tagged/zaangha 

Remember: You can navigate Zaadz faster by typing or cut and pasting the above URLs on your browser's address bar. Sweet.

This is why it's important for all of us to tag our stuff. So that other people can easily find them! This is targeted serendipity at its finest.

The average zaadzster, and especially newbies, are not going to know this unless they subscribe to this pod’s discussions.

Tag clouds are neat but I assume they don’t contain every tag, just the one’s that have reached a certain tipping point? Why not just have a tag search box on the main books page, biz page, etc? The search box on the books page, for example, seems to search the word in the book’s title.

exactly. that's why we're building all this tip and knowledge base stuff. more to come later. we're building our user's manual in real time! all Zaadzsters will be proficient on all things Web 2.0 real soon :)

yep you're right. and tag search and context search are must-haves. our Dev team is working on all those cool stuff as we speak :) thanks for your patience. it won't take long now…

Using Tags With Multiple Keywords 

You can also use tags with more than one keyword to search for stuff on Zaadz, just use the ”+” sign to string together the keywords. See some examples below:

http://www.zaadz.com/blog/tags/depth+and+span
(displays all blog posts tagged with “depth and span”)

http://books.zaadz.com/tagged/lucid+dreaming
(displays all books tagged with “lucid dreaming”)

http://events.zaadz.com/tagged/burning+man
(displays all events tagged with “burning man”)

http://biz.zaadz.com/tagged/free+wi-fi
(displays all business listings tagged with “free wi-fi”)

You get the idea! Now carry on!

Is anyone else reporting that sometimes the tag search feature doesn't work properly on blogs?  I haven't been out trying to search other areas like books, quotes, etc.

I searched my blog for a tag “sun” which I know is there - however the page said done with nothing showing - not even the “0 of 4 entries” blurb I used to get.  Maybe it's being worked on…

It has worked before BTW.

yes, the search functionality is still a little funky at times. the Dev team are working on improving all the search functionality on all of our features. so please bear with the inconvenience at this time. thanks for the heads up!

Excellent - I figured as much.  Sometimes it's hard to decide whether to wait and see if you all will fix things cause they're in process or tell you what's happening cause you don't even know it's a problem yet.

How's it goin'?

A friend and I are interested in pods that deal with kundalini, but the search capability is …  well, not capable.  Every time I do a search in pods for it, I get the entire list with the most popular pods at the top.  When I suspected that I might just be imagining a problem, and thought maybe these pods really DO deal with this because it is a popular subject and they may all have discussions dealing with it, I tried searching with a really weird word: “showering” and I got the same result. 

I have been getting discouraged about the amount of duplication that is happening in pods because it diffuses the energy something aweful.  We need to solve this problem now. 

I tried using the address bar to search for this too, and it didn't work.  Please help.

yeah i feel your pain. there's a lot of indexing going on and our search feature is still a work in progress. but trust me on this, we have some good stuff planned for searching stuff on Zaadz.

in the meantime, continue creating pods that you are passionate about, take time to get to know people and invite those who can contribute. don't worry about “duplicate” pods for now, because we're going to have a functionality to “merge” pods soon!
