TIP: How To Make Yourself More Visible on Zaadz

We've been getting a lot of questions on how to make “yourself” more visible in Zaadz. Wonder no more because I've got a handful of tips for you! So whether it's your blog, your pods, and/or your profile that need to get more attention, here are some ways to make yourself more visible.

Cool Ways of Promoting Yourself

– The first thing, and I really mean FIRST, that you have to do is spice up your profile! Let's not get lazy now people. Our profile is our online faces. It's the first thing that get noticed by people. It reflects a partial picture of what we're all about. So make your Zaadz profile shine. Make it groovy, neat, and unique. For more details, check out, HOW TO: Spice up My Profile.

NOTE: Spicing up your profile is not a one-time job. Since we all continue to grow and learn, make sure to update your profile to reflect your growth and the new things you've learned (e.g. add new interests, add new books, add new movies, add new teachers, etc.). Your  profile is NOT written in stone. :) 

– Blog your heart out! Your blog is your numero uno tool in expressing yourself and connecting with people all at the same time!  If you are new to blogging, don't worry, we're all in here to learn. Please check out the book, The Weblog Handbook, or read up on my personal take on Kosmic Blogging. Take your time. You'll get better as you go along.

Remember: The more you blog, the more you increase targeted serendipity. Sooner or later, you'll have a very long tail. This is good.

And don't forget to tag you blog posts! Why? Because tags make your stuff more visible. 

– Start your own pod/group or join existing pods. Check out the main Pods page and look for pods that interest you. Pods are one of the busiest places here on Zaadz so you'll have a good chance of connecting with more people with similar interests. Pods are also perfect places to give shout outs to your blog posts and ideas. Just make sure you do this with discretion and relevance so you won't get frowned upon :) Always keep in mind the ethic of reciprocity when engaging other people within Zaadz in order to maintain a mutual caring, sharing, and growing environment.

NOTE: Enter The zLounge! It's the grand central station of pods! If you want to meet more people and just talk about anything under the sun, that's your main portal in the wonderful world of pods :) 

– Post comments on Blogs. Engage your friends and help them keep their flow in blogging by commenting on their blogs. Commenting on blogs not only help us learn and discover other people's perspectives but also allow us to articulate our own opinions, and beliefs which in turn also exposes us to more people here on Zaadz. Try commenting on as many blogs as possible. Try commenting on blogs you agree with and those you don't agree with. Keep common courtesy and you'll receive courtesy as well.

– Use those rockin' Zaadz features! Enter your events on Events. List your favorite businesses on zPages. Add your favorite books and quotes from books with Books and Quotes. share inspiring videos on Videos.

So that's it. Those are the basic cool ways you can do to give yourself the quality exposure that you deserve.

Not-so Cool Ways of Promoting Yourself

Here are some not-so cool ways of promoting your stuff on Zaadz. I'm including it here as a reminder NOT to do these things, or only do it very, very, very sparingly under unique circumstances.

–  NOT COOL to send BULK email to all your friends just to announce that you have updated your blog. Take note that your friends already have access to your latest blogs with the “Blog” tab. So there's no need to announce this to everyone.

Feel free to send your latest cool blogs to some select friends who you think may be interested to hear what you say. But as a general rule, you don't need to do this. If you build it, they will come :)

– NOT COOL to crosspost your stuff on pods and comment section of blogs WITHOUT relevance.  Keep within topic as much as possible, or start a new threaded discussion instead.

– NOT COOL to do “tag bombing.”  Tag bombing is basically putting a lot of tags on your stuff with the intention of making it more visible with flagrant disregard for relevance. This not only reflects poorly on the person who does this dirty trick, but it also defeats the purpose of tagging. For more on tag bombing, check out this Flickr Experiment.

Remember: Tag your contents as much as you can but only with relevant keywords. Be original.
 

So that's about it on this topic. Getting more visibility takes patience and time. It also requires a certain amount of authentic transparency. Although it's possible that you could tip the visibility scale in your favor any time (e.g. by a cool blog post or comment, or discussion thread on pods, or even altering your profile photo) please remember that quality trumps quantity most of the time. :)
