TIP: How to Respond to Bulk Email Trigger-happy People

We've noticed that some Gaians have been using the bulk email feature more often than they should. A lot of Gaians receiving these messages have expressed their concerns. Rightly so, because no matter how well-intentioned those messages are, if they are unsolicited and impersonal, they will be looked upon as dreaded spams. That's so uncool.

For those of us who keep receiving these unsolicited bulk messages, no matter how annoying they can be, I suggest that instead of blowing off our steam, please use this email template. This is the email I send out to people once I notice that they are going way over board.

Dear [Gaian's Name],

Thank you for sharing your message.  However, moving forward, I suggest that you please minimize sending bulk emails to your friends. Most of them frown upon bulk messages,  so I think by mass mailing your friends, you only defeat your purpose of spreading your good message.

I think that you'll have more audience if you constantly blog about your ideas, or post them on groups such as Gaia Lounge:BULLETIN BOARD.

There's no need to send bulk emails to your friends everytime you have a new blog because they can see what you blogged about via the blog / journal -> friends link.

There you have it. Feel free to cut-and-paste that email template and send it out to educate our fellow trigger-happy Gaians.

However, even if after sending that email and you still notice those users abusing the bulk mail feature, please report them to us. We shall give them a piece of our compassionate wrath!

Great post! very valuable!

Although… I must say…. there is much value in “blowing off steam” too… I've found my blog to be a safe place to vent when I need to…. and if I really need to…I put the entry on “Private” so that it's “off my chest” and yet no one else needs to read it…. eventually I delete the entry when the issue resolves itself.  No need to repress… experience assists us in growing.  So long as it is not harming another individual in the process; we need to be aware of our personal responsibility of choice in perception.

There… a few pennies from me on the topic….

personally… I like that the “Delete” button works now… and so I use it.
