Where do I belong?

thor [no longer around] said May 24, 2007, 9:04 PM:

Dear all.
As you may all know, I'm presently reading the Koran. It is tough reading ( counted the severe threats throughout 17 pages at a total of 31 - didn't bother to count the 'slight' ones) to me so I relax by reading H.C.Andersen's fairy tales.
Then, in the story 'the metal pig' I read following:
'It was late on a winter evening. The mountains were covered with snow; but the moon shone, and moonlight in Italy is just as good as the light of a murky Northern winter's day; nay, it is better, for the air shines and lifts us up, while in the North the cold grey leaden covering seems to press us downwards to the earth - the cold damp earth, which will some day press down our coffin.'

He pictures the Danish weather quite well I think.

And still my friends and family ask me ( and have done since I left Denmark 7 years ago): 'When do you come back to Denmark ( for good)?'
Are they mad? Am I mad? or do they just like the feeling of being depressed???

i often wonder why i live in Quebec during the winter… but life is good this time of year, everything seems to be bursting into life at once, desperate to get it all in before the cold comes back all too soon…

i've never thought of interspersing the Koran with fairy tales, interesting, it must make for fascinating comparisons and contrasts…

Dear Nicole.
Comparing the Koran with H.C.Andersen's fairy-tales is quite interesting.
The 'spiritual' book, the Koran, is a' book of threats'. - far from what I can use for spiritual training.
and the fairy-tales?? Full of spiritual teachings.

interesting is - certainly.

Dear thor, I'm intrigued to know what spiritual teachings you are getting from the fairy tales. I know they are there, but never have looked at them that way.

Peace and joy,

Nicole
