AN EXPERIMENT: Multi-tasking & Multiple sensory perception

Nishtha said Dec 23, 2006, 7:45 PM:

I have set forth an experiment.

The genesis, evolution and details of the experiment are outlined in my blog contribution . (Clicking on this link will open a new window so you will stay connected to this pod)

I hope all who come upon this entry will be motivated to read the outline of the experiment and volunteer their participation/share your feedback as a response to this post:

- What thoughts came to your mind as you read and listened?
- Did you have a “eureka” moment? if so, what was your “eureka”?
- Did you experience sensory overload?
- Did your like/dislike of the music influence your thoughts?
- Were you able to listen to the lyrics while simultaneously reading the blog entries?
Any and other comments are also welcome.

Many humble thanks, in advance, from this intrepid, philosophizing scientist…..!

hi nishtha…

um, i did do what you suggested…        and         right away realized that, as usual, it is difficult for me to read and listen to music at the same time…  but I turned down the music a little bit and kept reading anyway.  Then the music stopped.  I don't know whether it was the headphones or the song just ended.  The song was about “Seeds of Love,” which, of course, is so related to Zaadz.

Aw geeeez.  You know, I'll 'fess up.  I'm a “slow reader.”  Hot dogs read faster than I do.  And I waz readin' like a cold, greasy hot dog.  And readin' and readin' and readin' and finally i just said, “No more.  Not this evening.”

But!  On the bright side, I learned A LOT about discussions that had happened before here on Zaadz about Conscious Capitalism and the Zaadz business model, and there were a ton of neural synapses firing multiple ways as i read slowly through, and I wanted to respond and contribute some ideas of my own, which I think I will do at some point.

Thank you for connecting me with this information!

But, if it's actually the synergy of the music and the info processing that you're lookin' for, I'm thinking that probably someone YOUNGER than I  (which, I'm pretty sure would be YOU, as well as billions of other people who are younger than me) would probably be better candidates for the possible alchemy of the synergy.  I just want quiet.  Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

ok, i'm asleep now, so let's tip toe out…:)

I did this experiment the first time back on December 27th, so I had to repeat it in order to post my response.

First of all, at risk of dating myself, I must admit that Tears for Fears was one of my favorite bands as a teenager back in the 80's.  I remember the lyrics to this song surprisingly well considering I probably haven't heard it more than a handful of times over the past 16-17 years.  (God, has it been that long?!?!)  I also remembered the video quite vividly, and quite enjoyed seeing it again.  (Bless you, YouTube!)  Because of this close connection of mine to the song in question, I had some pre-formed ideas in my mind when I did the experiment.  In particular, the song is quite political, and the video features the “all-seeing eye” on top of the pyramid on the back of the dollar bill – the Freemason's hallmark.  So, needless to say, the song immediately brought politics and conspiracy theories to mind.

Secondly, I am an energy worker and a healer.  I have been intellectually aware of the “money is a form of energy” principle for quite a while, but find it difficult to kick the conditioned response of “money is bad.”

So, when I sat down to read Michael's blog, I found myself nodding in agreement.  “Yes.  Yes. Of course, that makes sense.”  At the same time, I found my stomach knotting slightly.  Recognizing the conditioned response, I asked myself “who benefits from this conditioned response?”  The computer speakers answered with, “We're fools to the rules of a government plan.”  It was a very Orwellian moment.

I must confess, I may have skipped parts of Brian's blog the first time around.  I was trying to read quickly to keep up with the song.  I did, however, get a really good feeling from what I read.  No further revelations, though.

Thanks for inviting me to participate in your experiment!

Blessings,

Annisa
