As mentioned in a previous message:

Robert now has paypal set up on his site (check out his spiffy new store); however, it's not a good idea to put a payment option directly on the site, because then members of the general public (eww) would be able to jump the queue and sign up for this workshop - which of course is intended for the IIzaadz ubermensch.  So what they would prefer is to have people email them at info@robertmasters.com">info@robertmasters.com” rel=”nofollow” target=”_blank”>info@robertmasters.com“>info@robertmasters.com">info@robertmasters.com; they will send an invoice which allows you to pay through paypal directly.  Very easy process.

Please send in a $200 deposit as soon as possible (and let me know when you've done so).  People on the intial list will have the opportunity to secure their spot by sending in a deposit between now and the end of October; after that it'll open up to people on the wait list.

Looking forward to seeing you at the gathering and/or workshop!  :)

~~~~~
I've asked Robert and Diane to let me know when they have sent their deposit in.
Once we get to the end of this month, any unsecured spots will be open to people on the wait list.
Looking forward to meeting many of you next summer!
ROFLMAO
You're a hoot, Liz!  I'm like that, too, though.  I spent the weekend up in the mountains with a group of friends last week, talking to one Irish guy in particular (most of the others were Italian, so it was a nice change of pace to talk to a real Anglo…), and towards the end I caught myself altering my accent a bit now and then.
Anyway, I'm whacking my knuckles with a ruler now and promising to get back on topic!
Cheers,
Oh, yeah, an Irish accent is super easy to pick up. (I wouldn't call them “Anglo” unless they're Protestants if you value your life, though). Spent a week there once with my husband's family and by the time I left I had quite the lilt in my voice. It was instrumental, however, in learning how to understand the Scots, who are much more difficult to understand, IMO.
I'm the official translator for Tiki-Liz when she comes to an integral gathering. See how I made that on-topic? I'm smart like that.
Good point.  I was thinking more “Anglophone” than “Anglo-Saxon”, but yeah, I should be more careful about that… just in case there are any Irish at the gathering (OK, that's a bit of a stretch to get back on topic!).
If I remember, correctly, Liz, dearest, you didn't so much translate as take the mickey with a very good impersonation. OK there was some translation, but that was for the cloth eared and hard of thinking (no names, no need)
My puny attempt to keep this on topic……………well it's an effort towards greater worldcentric understanding of the Scottish accent and a tribute to Scottish -American co-operation. It's actually Robin Williams talking about golf, and it is very funny.
If RAM can understand this I'll attend the workshop:-)
That was hilarious, but a pathetic attempt to put it on-topic at the end.
I will say this: I promise that if you are there, I will take the mickey (that's take the piss for you “Anglos”) again, and it will be almost as funny as Robin Williams. Mostly because I'll be drunk, I'm guessing. Or because my audience will be.
This is not to underestimate the effect of Scotland on world culture, of course. Kilts remain their greatest contribution to the happiness of women everywhere, and I owe my own genetic heritage to some poor bastard who came to America looking for a decent, non-light-deprived life, lo these many years ago. Arthur, too, is from “New Scotland,” where they still have a brogue, even.
I am not sending my deposit for the RAM workshop in the next 3 days. I have done a lot of RAM work this year, and am already committed to the Hawaii workshop…and actually I am feeling over-done right now… I don’t know how I will feel in July when this integral workshop comes around. I am going to take the chance that if I want to go to it, there will be a place that comes open….funny how I am feeling now about the whole therapy thing…..just exhausted or something… I think I have worn off all the defenses in the articulate, sophisticated matrix of my being and I am mostly witnessing myself stewing around groundless in a pre-verbal, undifferentiated goo…. it could also be that I have a serotonin deficiency or season affective disorder, but regardless, that is where it is for me now…. I am feeling prevertebrate….spineless, amorphous….and I am just waiting to see what happens…hoping something emerges soon, realizing in part that maybe I have to find some gumption and pull the ‘something’ out of the fire….
even as I am writing this, I am watching my dog Rosie playing with a pal from next door…….we had a little snow last night, and the ground is white as are the trees….. a good brisk walk is in order up over Sunday Hill….. it is scary to think that November has not even quite arrived yet
…… I am still looking forward to the Gathering….and meeting everyone…..
Hi everyone,
I just got off the phone with Robert and have decided that I need to focus on doing a workshop with him sooner, and I am aiming for the Hawaii trip in January. I am not in a position financially to do both, but I am planning to come to Sacramento for the gathering, unless my health declines. Please give my spot in the workshop to the next in line.
Apologies for delaying my payment for so long. I was trying to determine which road to take and it did not become clear until today.
I mentioned on the old thread some months ago that I'd like to teach a couple of yoga classes during the gathering, as well as help to lead a kirtan. Just checking in to see what kind of interest there is for both of those things, as they both take some preparation (kirtan more than yoga). I'd want to know that enough people really were going to participate…
Thoughts?
As for the wait list, I'm going to ask Arthur to respond.
I do want to remind folks that the workshop is only one part of the gathering and not at all necessary to coming and having a good time.
I'm pondering what kind of remuneration you might need, Lauren, in light of all the preparations and the effort that will go into what you're doing? Perhaps a suggested donation? I know you aren't looking to make a profit, but I find that when people are fairly paid, the services are more appreciated, and the person who is getting paid, even if it's just a token amount, don't feel taken advantage of.
Jane, sorry to hear you are not going to the Robert workshop next summer, but your reasons are quite understandable.  You've actually done an incredible amount of work with Robert in the past year - I'm envious (but not jealous).  It sounds like you need time to kick back and regroup.
Lauren, I'm very sorry to hear that you won't be attending the workshop - but OTOH it is fantastic that you will be doing a workshop with Robert earlier (and in Hawaii no less).  I'm sorry to hear health issues are troubling you, though.
Juliee, I'll add you to the wait list, no problem.
Gina, you'll need to decide if you're willing to charge your deposit - to be paid off your charge card once you get paid in a couple of weeks - or if you want to risk losing your spot.  It's your call.
At the end of this month, as noted earlier in the thread, the people on the wait list will have the opportunity to send in a deposit and secure a spot.
Since Lauren and Jane have decided not to put in a deposit, I'll add them to the end of the wait list - then they will have the opportunity (along with anybody else who jumps onto the wait list between now and next summer) to take any spots which become available.
This is kind of difficult for me, because I want everybody who has expressed interest to be able to go - which brings us to a far higher number than 12.  Anybody who doesn't make it to this one…perhaps we'll do a future RAM workshop together.  At any rate, I hope you'll make it to the gathering itself, because I'm really looking forward to meeting and hanging out with you all.  :)
I do intend to participate in Dharmapalooza Aug 08, which is a higher priority simply because of my desire (with unconfirmed decision) to move to Boulder (ie. networking, learning, practice, job hunting, etc).
Gang,
My plans have changed and so I must bow out.
  When I went to the RAM retreat in Boulder, I only went to half of it and never did my  1 on 1. I wasn't ready for it. I do feel bad and have lost face perhaps, but that's what I went through. No blame, no shame.
  Now at this point in my life I must be Integral about my family life. The needs of “we” trumps the needs of “I”. It's an imbalance that I must cope with. But for now, the “we” of wife and children trumps the “I” of going to psychotherapy.
 Granted healing “I” in psychotherapy can benefit the “we”. Now as it stands for me, the kids need a college fund which they don't have yet. I and my wife need a retirement plan at age 50. Psychotherapy is expensive. Funding college for the kids and a nest egg requires a huge chunk of time and energy. I mention this to give you an authentic perpsective as to why my priorities are as they are.
Its Maslow's Hierarchy of needs at work here. If in the future I have a change in circumstance and fortune, then by all means, RAM will be at the top of the list and hopefully I will be ready for it then.
As much as I would like to go to the retreat I am in no position to do so presently and to be fair with my family and  balanced about it.
Peace and God speed,
Daniel
I'm sorry to hear you didn't feel ready for the RAM workshop in Boulder, but these things happen.  I've backed out of stuff I wasn't ready for at the time.
It sucks more to hear your circumstances preclude you coming to the gathering or workshop next summer, but I totally understand.  Your other commitments are more important.
My own future “nest egg” scenarios don't look very reassuring, so I resonate with any existential (“eggs-istential?) anxiety you may have in that area.  I don't see myself ever being able to voluntarily leave the workforce and live in anything resembling comfort  - so most likely I work until sickness, death, economic collapse or some other cheerful eventuality makes me stop.  Hopefully in the future I'll be doing meaningful work that feeds my soul, at least.
We'll be at the end of the month soon, aka the deadline for people on
the priority list to get their deposits in before the wait list gets a
shot at it.  My thinking is that anybody who is in process at the end
So, it is sounding to me like there's some interest in yoga and some in kirtan, but overwhelming interest for neither. I'm happy to sing and lead chants for free (i'm no pro, it's just something I like to do), but would like help with instrumentation (drums + harmonium or guitar) as I'm not an instrumentalist and it helps immensely to build the energy. I recall Ewan offering to play either guitar or percussion on the old thread, but saying he'd rather not transport instruments on the plane from England. Anybody more local willing to bring a guitar and a drum?
As far as yoga goes I do like offering it as a gift, but I also agree with Liz that there's something about people putting their money down that makes them more likely to show up. So, if enough interest is there, I'd ask $10 suggested donation per class per person, and if you are tight for money just write me and ask for a “scholarship”. Just so you know I teach people of ALL abilities, 2 years old to 96, able-bodied mountain bike racers and college athletes and people with chronic injuries and illness, so I could teach two different classes – a gentle one and a challenging one, depending on who needs what. My basic approach is to use the practice of the postures and flow of poses to cultivate mindfulness, subtle and gross body awareness, and the immediate distinctly improved sense of well-being that comes from nourishing your body with awareness, movement and oxygen. I dislike trendy “glamour” yoga and don't teach it. The reason I want to offer this to the group is because I believe that it will be of great benefit to our group to do a body practice together, as it is the piece I see being most often neglected. If you want more information about how I teach you can look at my class descriptions here.
In any case, I'm happy to pull together a class last minute, as that takes little preparation, so we can play it by ear if people don't want to commit. Bring a yoga mat if you have one and at the very least we can practice together informally.
Gitanjali and Arthur, thanks for your care, the health issues are long-standing and ongoing, though I am newly concerned about the results of a recent lab test that may indicate a problem of another nature. I'm waiting on a follow-up test to get more information.
Best to all y'all,
Lauren
Hi Lauren
I'm quite interested in both yoga and kirtan as part of the gathering - it's just that I'm more focused on setting up the workshop at present.  Also, the gathering far enough away in time that probably most people are not engaged in detailed thinking about it right now - so I wouldn't take current levels of response as necessarily indicitive of how much interest is or will be present.  :)
Liz and I, btw, are finally going to get to do Kirtan with Krishna Das in just a couple of weeks!  Then the next day we'll get to do a satsang with Adyashanti.  wheeeeeeee!  :)
OK, the deadline for people on the priority list getting in their deposits is now past, and the wait list is open; people on the wait list will have the opportunity to reserve a spot in the order they entered the list.  I'll transfer anyone from the original “priority list” to the wait list in case openings come up later.  People can also still enter the wait list - we don't know what will happen between now and next summer; spots may open up if people with reservations can't make it.
Arthur, does this mean that the top four people on the waiting list can claim a spot by paying their deposits?
How long do the ones lower down on the waiting list need to wait before they can secure a spot by paying the deposit?
Not that it concerns me personally, but since I don't get the process at the moment there might be others who don't get it either.
We'll maintain the wait list - and feel free, anyone, to add your name to that list - because spots may come up if (god/dess forbid) anyone with a reservation has to change their plans, or achieves complete enlightenment and full shadow integration before next July (in which case, PLEASE still go to the workshop - we need you!)
It's a great mix of people, and I love that it's an even balance of genders and that there are going to be three couples there.
Now that that's settled, we can start one or more threads whenever people want to discussing details of the gathering itself.  I don't think there will be much momentum on that until we get closer to the gathering, but have at it if you feel so inclined.  :)
Inevitably, those who are not able to go to the workshop or gathering will feel sad; sometimes even those who thought they didn't want to go end up feeling left out and triggered. I want everyone who doesn't go to know that we will genuinely miss your presence, and drink a toast to you!
Hmmm, thanks Jane. last time I went to California was in 2005 to see my daughter who was teaching horse riding in the mountains. It was the week before the Boulder gathering. I had promised my daughter I would let her teach me to ride, having spent her teen years helping with a pony, driving them both to shows, getting up at 5,30 to groom mane and tail and do all the stuff that goes with this. I had, however managed to avoid ever sitting on one, apart from the Burro (donkeysafari in Tenerife some 20 years earlier. That particilar nightmare has no place here.
So in california I rode 3 times in 4 days. When it was over i was very scared and very sore. Indeed I sncerely believed I would never walk properly upright again. Since then, I have been parasailing, have rideen on an elephant in Thailand , and more recently made an ealy morning hot air balloon flight to see the sun come up over the Nile. All of these experiences were vastly superior to any equine outing you would care to dream up.
So, my dear, I am going to San Francisco, with or without flowers in my hair. I may rent a car and drive up the coast. I will not under any circumstances be going anywhere on a horse. Nor will I have to listen to ram telling me about my unremembered birth trauma, I really, really could not bear that. If anyone wants to think that shows up some deep psychological blockage in me, then feel free…I read DSW and that was about enough for me.
No RAM, no horses, I am coming to play!
As one of the main volunteer organizers of this event, I reckon that question is aimed largely at me.  What pressing questions - regarding this event that's happening 6 1/2 months from now - are failing to be “answered, or even acknowledge[d],” sir?
You know, I really get fucking tired sometimes of being attacked for failing to live up to some people's expectations when I'm giving so much of my time, energy and initiative to help make events like this a reality.
I could read through this long-ass thread and try to suss out what important, timely matters I've left unaddressed, thus failing to adequately thrill you, Pelle.  Instead, I'd rather ask you to kindly repeat them and I will at least answer them in the format you have now helpfully specified.
The wait list process is/was important to everyone who's coming to the workshop, so I feel that part should have been clarified briefly in this thread. Since it wasn't, Juliee asked about it without getting a reply, and I then reiterated the same question, only to have it be ignored once again.
Doing group therapy is a big thing, and clarity and transparency even in the process leading up to the actual workshop is important. If it's too much work to provide that, then it's best not to organize such a workshop at all.
As for the tantrum and sarcasm appearing out of nowhere… They speak for themselves so no need for me to further comment on that part of your post.
It's my understanding that the RAM workshop is FULL.  That if a spot were to open (a cancellation to a reservation) that the choice for the spot would go through the wait list in the order that is posted.
And I am also gathering that there is no reason to offer any spots to “the pubic” since there is already a wait list.  Unless “public” means this thread and anyone can still throw their hat into the mix and WAIT ;-)
Thanks for your wise and insightful words, Jane. (Have you been studying with Robert Augustus Masters or something? lol) Ah…I did indeed miss a great opportunity to a) STEP AWAY FROM THE KEYBOARD when I was feeling unreasonably reactive; and b) practice verbal Aikido, despite the fact that Sensei Matt Fluty emphasizes just that - the myriad practical applications of the art of Aikido in everyday life. Sigh. Clearly I have much more work to do along those lines – but hey, I'm still learning the difference between left and right in the dojo, if you must know.  (As for the Kofman “verbal Aikido,” I'm intrigued…but I haven't been able to watch IN video for a long time now and probably missed that stuff.)
Pelle, I sincerely apologise for overlooking your posts on Thursday, and I believed - mistakenly as it turned out - that any questions or ambiguity around the wait list had been cleared up. If there is any further need for clarification about that, please let me know (via PM) and I will clear it up on the thread.
I have no excuse for reacting publicly with such anger, regardless of the perceived provocation or whether or not I felt “justified” in doing so.
Now then, here is where things stand vis a vis the workshop: All twelve workshop positions have been filled. There is a wait list. If there are any errors or omissions, or if anyone decisively wants to be removed from the wait list, please let me know via PM. You may also contact Liz, as we are in frequent communication. :)
Hi all
Sadly, a few people have, over the last while, have let me know through PM's that they've decided not to attend the workshop; in order that they notified me they are: Ewan, Juliee, Pelle, and Gitanjali. They will be missed. All either had other events come up (as, for example, Juliee mentioned above), and/or decided that it was too expensive to travel all the way to Sacramento from their distant locales to attend the gathering.
I've been working my way through the wait list to fill the spots, and as of today Ewan's spot has been filled by Gina. That's really cool, actually, because she wasn't able to get a deposit in the first time around. In other good news, one of our new members, Eddie, has decided to go on the wait list.
I will continue to work my way through the wait list, offering people available spots (three are currently available) in the order that their names appear on the list.  If they decline a spot, their name will go to the end of the wait list (unless they ask to be removed from it altogether), so that they may have a chance later if there are any other changes.
I encourage those interested in attending the workshop to add their names to the wait list by contacting me via PM.  If, after working through the wait list there are still spots available, Liz and I will take other steps to fill them.
Whatever the final mix of people in the workshop ends up being, I'm sure all will find it a rich and transformative experience!  I am very much looking forward to this, as well as to the gathering as a whole.  Remember: the workshop and the gathering are separate events; even if you won't be attending the workshop I encourage you to come to the gathering and meet your podmates face to face.  It's a wonderful experience going from the screen to the much higher bandwidth “real life” version of interaction.  :)
