Grey Just testing URLs in the grapevine. This link will take you to Pelle's blog: http://is.gd/ixdm (I want to see if this gets converted to a link or if you have to copy and paste it.) (10 months ago)

Grey Oof! Just saw this now, Siona.... Yeah, flutters I think it was... no, "flaps", but I don't like it much. "Flutter" was the name to replace "Grapevine". Anyway, I just used "tweets" here because it's more readily recognizable. :) (11 months ago)

Motivation

Fication said Mar 19, 2008, 5:12 AM:

Motivation – what is that? And how do you get it?

Is there an integral way of understanding motivation?

Spiral dynamics? A drive towards whatever resonates with your value system?
Orange: strive/drive/compete and so forth…
Green: why do anything?
Teal: understand everything…

Or SCG:s ego development? A drive towards what resonates with your identity? (I read something about it in the Turquoise shadow-thread.)

Is it pure creativity?
Eros and Agape?
Love?
Free will + ability to concetrate?

My motivation of posting this thread is that I need some (and I'm curious of course). I really need to do something that I seem to lack enduring motivation for – I get distracted and hooked by discussions like this. And yes, I know about Tony Robbins.

So, what's your take on it? What's the formula of motivation?

Motivation to you all!
Kristian

Hi,

Been thinking about this one for almost a year now and have come up with the following result. Feel free to comment or just read. Consider the “ego-transcending” as speculations. Frankly, I don’t have a clue. ;-)

Motivation – the integral take.

Level Motivations, drives

Red Aggression, power,
dominans

Amber Duty, obligations, social
pressure, belonging, moral, musts, submission, meaning (religious)

Orange Outcome – reward,
focus/determination/self disciplin (free will), Invests
discomfort now in order to recieve a reward later,Competition/instinct to win,
impact/self confidence/significance,Has the life in his/her own hands –
creates his/her own destiny, which is a great kick!

Reaction against amber oppressing
dogmas for the benefit of the objective.

Green Desarming all previous
drives:

Red: Believes in justice
and non-violence.

Amber: Social hierarchies,
as well as duty and religion, are claims to power that oppresses
the individual.

Moral, meaning och group identity
are social constructions, Vi have been domisticated by the
civilization to adaptation.

There are no musts or have-tos!

Meaning is a subjective entity, I
decide my own meaning!

Orange: Competition is never
fair (e.g. feminism, multi culturalism),

Success is always on someone elses
expense,

Outcome – measureble objectives
often have consequences (e.g. environmental-),

The measureble objectives are
never objectively choosen!

Who’s truth?

All claims on the truth or
objectivity are claims for power.

Life is not about achieving and
aquire material welth!

Life is about feeling good, happiness – here
and now!

We have everything we need – we
don’t have to chase a lot of success.

Self esteem is about expressing
oneself,

Affirmations, by consumption and
experiences, and in the same time, criticism agains that.

Justice (but doesn’t do much
concrete about it)

Creativity and curiosity, maybe from
earlier stages that are acknowledged.

Else, don’t do much… but not much
really has to be done!

Integral Compassion and
responsibility (but now also results oriented)

Truth seeking – questions, even
one self

Creativity

Integrates the earlier stages and
can hold the paradoxes and critique, mostly from green

Takes into consideration the own
needs (e.g. according to Maslow) and lays energy on appropriate
things.

Ego-transcending

Longing for ultimate truth

Love – unconditional, self
sacrificing with no expectation on own outcome or reward.

Calling – deep sense of
meaningfullness, meaning is what is greater than the self.

May the drive be with you!

Kristian

Kristian,

Do you think you can clean up your last post a bit? There seems to be a mix-up between orange and green, and I don’t think you mean that red believes in justice and non-viololence? :)
