Grey Oof! Just saw this now, Siona.... Yeah, flutters I think it was... no, "flaps", but I don't like it much. "Flutter" was the name to replace "Grapevine". Anyway, I just used "tweets" here because it's more readily recognizable. :) (9 months ago)

Integral Astrology?

Tely said Jun 28, 4:36 PM:

On the issue of astrology, I'm pretty agnostic, but with a tendency toward skepticism.  It's always seemed a bit pre-rational to me.  But I recently thought about it from the perspective of “types,” and that got me to thinking.  Is there a trans-rational approach to astrology?

There's a lot of “clinical”/experiential data on the accuracy and usefulness of astrological readings for many people. I know it has proved helpful for me in understanding and accepting myself.

To my mind, there's no reason to doubt that the configuration of stars and planets at our birth doesn't have some kind of influence on us. Everything is connected energetically, after all. Even the tides and moon have far more bio-physical influence than many people are ready to acknowledge. Of course, specifically what the influence in astrology is, that's the larger question!!!

To my mind also, astrology as an influence is minor in comparison to some other typologies, such as the Enneagram, so is less interesting.

Most people would argue that since there's no rational approach to astrology, there can't be any TRANS-rational approach. I think I hinted at a “rational” approach above. But this point can be debated, for sure.

But I'm sure other folks will have more substantial comments on the interesting question you raised, Tely !!!

Hey Tely, Om,

I remember Joe Perez  writing about Integral Astrology a while back, at least I think it was him.

Astrology was my first introduction into personality typing.  My dad's girlfriend was an astrologer when I was a teenager (back when charts were done by hand!)  it was a great introduction into the exploration into personality.

Recently, I have been diving deeper into the Enneagram and have found some insights to 'ways of being' that I have also found helpful.   The conversation we had in our meet up (Tely) about types really has me exploring more deeply how types play into development and how they can be utilized for deep shadow work.

Thanks for bringing this up!

Gina

Wow, that's great to hear, Gina. We'd love to hear what you have to say about the results of your explorations into development and shadow work wrt types.

Re the Enneagram, deep shadow work indeed. Soul-level shadow work. The Ennegram is not (just) about personalities. It is even more about souls, and the illusions we hold on the soul level and bring into multiple lifetimes. It sure has been intense clearing and healing for me !!!!

Blessings,
OM Bastet

I'd love to spend more time responding to this thread…very interesting topic to me.
Suffice to say that over the years I have gained greater respect for at least the power of chart reading for self reflection, especially after learning to do charts from a physicist friend in the 1980's who pointed out a significant life change event in my 19th year of life without significant knowledge of my history. I am personally convinced that their are influencies and patterns of activity in the Cosmos/Kosmos which are yet to be fully known and appreciated.
I stand in Awe of this magnificent universe and am willing to learn a new thing or two. {;-)

Oooh, I love that last sentence !!!! And agree with the one before it; we don't really know all that influences us.

Hope you DO spend more time responding to this thread !!

Astrology was my first “objective” experience with exploring the question “who am I” from a typing perspective.  Whether or not it is real science is not really important for me .. or at least wasn't important when I was 16.

The idea that my personality could be look at  … explored.. differentiated, that was exciting.  Of course my dad's girlfriend had all her own stuff rolled in with what it was all supposed to mean but luckily she was pretty good at keeping too much of the magical thinking out of the information.  Maybe my Dad had a hand in that too, who knows.

How I have worked types into my shadow work by going back to the basics of the  “who am I” question.  One part of the answer to this question is personality.  Not all of who I am is my gender, my chart or my enneagram type but diving into what those types mean to me puts more paths in my territory.

Love & Stars,
Gina
