Grey Oof! Just saw this now, Siona.... Yeah, flutters I think it was... no, "flaps", but I don't like it much. "Flutter" was the name to replace "Grapevine". Anyway, I just used "tweets" here because it's more readily recognizable. :) (9 months ago)

Post-Rock

Balder said Jul 3, 6:47 PM:

I've been exploring a few new genres of music lately, such as math rock and post rock.  In this thread, I'll post some post-rock tunes I've been enjoying.  Many are instrumental, but these first two tunes, from The Sea and Cake, aren't – they've got a smooth, jazz-soul sound to them.

Here is Wikipedia's definition of post-rock

“Post-rock is a genre of alternative rock characterized by the use of musical instruments commonly associated with rock music, but using rhythms, harmonies, melodies, timbre, and chord progressions that are not usually found in rock tradition. It is the use of 'rock instrumentation' for non-rock purposes. Practitioners of the genre's style typically produce instrumental music.”

Here's a couple examples of groups that do mostly the instrumental style:

I've also grown quite fond of this genre, very good for chilling out. Here are some of my favorite tunes:

Thank you for posting that, smlak.  I had almost posted Caspian's Moksha last night, so I'm glad you did.  I don't have that album yet, though I did look for it today at a store in Berkeley (sold out).
