And it's not too late for any wishes and celebrations here. If you belong to 50-stars pod you can add to the birthday thread there:

I left my wishes and profound appreciation there. Albert is a gift to us all, and his 55th birthday is a fine excuse for some acknowledgments and appreciations!!

Blessings, OM Bastet

I've been doing my best to stay away from obligatory rituals such as birthday celebrations, including my own, since I was 16-years-old, verdammt nochmal. But I do admire Albert from afar. Very much so. Not sure that it's mutual, lol, but undeterred, I found a photo of an old German apple tree, taken recently in full autumnal glory, to commemorate the occasion.

Mascha.

I like your D`english:):) Well, no admiration please….I feel blessed to live my ordinary life and challenges.

I appreciate you too. The real  bottle neck here is our limited time and our obligations to make a living in the carbon based world. Lets keep planting some new apple trees and surprise ourselves with new views and impulses for life .

Auf eine spannende Zeit!

Eine spannende Zeit - ja, das kann man wohl sagen. Ich bin so gespannt, dass ich mich immer wieder auf die Erde legen muss um nicht wegzufliegen.

Appreciation it is, then, dear Albert. Interesting what you said…Looking back at the places all over this globe where I stayed for more than a few months, I believe I actually did plant something in each one of them - literally. Some flowering shrubs or indigenous wild flower seeds at least. It's a good feeling, knowing that. Thanks for bringing it up.

Oooh, I get to try out my translating skills, having looked up one word: spannende means exiciting!

An exciting time/era – yep, ya sure can say that (a person can truly say that.) I am so excited that I always (ever again repeatedly) have to lie down on the earth/ground, in order not to fly away (that I might not fly away) !!!! (I love the poetic feel of the more literal translation.)

Am I close? And boy oh boy, can I resonate with that feeling !!!!

Isn't it cool, planting stuff everywhere!!

Blessings, OM Bastet

Hey, how can the same word mean possibly, probably, and for certain????
Aren't perhaps and surely rather different??

wohl:
noun
welfare
weal
well-being

adverb
well
probably
no doubt
surely
perhaps
possibly
arguably
aright
confortablemore

Oh, you are good, OM. ”wohl” can mean “definitely” in some contexts and “possibly” in others -apart from all the other things you found on Google. Great language, huh? I'm (kinda) glad I grew up with it cuz learning it later on is a major undertaking even for gifted people.

As for Albert toasting to a spannende Zeit for us all, ”spannend” means more than exciting. It also means “tense, stretched (as in being stretched beyond bearable limits), and anxious to the point of nailbiting. There is no exact English word for it.

Re: spannende: There are exact experiences of it in English though. LMAO!!!!!!!

I can see the connection with “span.”

Yeah, the experience of being gespannt is universal. Erm, oops… did I just say that with a degree of certainty unbefitting a perfectionist? Yikes! I'll hastily admit to not knowing whereof I speak with ironclad certainty.

Well, I'm gonna use the term from now on. It is a concept we can all relate to, might as well have a single word for it.

Are you a perfectionist? I hope some people aren't !!!!!!!

Oh, another lovely expression. I too thank you maryw. Gonna use that one, too !!!

We're laughing here during your birthday party, Albert. A good sign.

OM: Are you a perfectionist? I hope some people aren't !!!!!!!

Recovering perfectionist in certain areas (sigh). Ever so slowly on my way to becoming a slob… thanks to my teacher who, only once, and very skillfully, performed an operation on my perfectionist streak that included public humiliation.

Nicole: i love German, the way words are stuck together to make new ones… wegzufliegen. Gorgeous!

It must be one of the most creative languages ever devised - apart from Sanskrit. You can join all sorts of different words to form a very long new one and still have people understand exactly what you mean. Once Germany was called the land of poets and thinkers, but that was before World War II.

Mascha and Om,

I enjoy these lighthearted moments of laughter, joking and simple playfulness very much. This is the juice of pur beeing.:):)

Mascha, after WW 2, as I described here and e lsewhere there was a brutal brain drain to the German culture. Few even understand today what the dynamics are and were in the last 250 years.

BTW:

The land of poets and thinkers NEVER was only brainy…LOL….

No, sports, music and film, medicine and all kind of action oriented patterns can be found too.

It needs a vertical view to collective unconscious. The Japanese people understand instinctively lots of our culture.

And when I speak about instincts, I refer to the Wotan Complex too. Diverse people like Heinrich Heine, Friedrich Nietzsche, C.G. Jung and others have referred to it in different ways. I posted lots of this material.

After thousands of analaysis, books, literature,  articles, films and symposiums in the last 20 years nearly nobody nailed it down this way:

Why?

They are afraid to look deeply into the mirror and enact a life which originates from this wild passion for the impossible. This raw instinct within a possible third/second enluightenment.

I already posted this to the editors of WIE in 2002:

The great German Fear

Its not so much about special poltics, intellectual furor, cultural innovations or multi-cultural opennes. Not even about spirituality. its about the boldness to embrace this fire and embody this fiery spirit today, in the times of irony, relativism, melancholy, cleverness, coolness, brilliance and beeing silent about what REALLY matters.

A clever retreat either from private life into collective issues or vice versa.

Thats why I_ and incresingly some others- are speaking about magma mastery and alchemy.

Its the Faustian impulse. Its not in the brain or heart alone. its about the embodied passion of a total existence.

The term “Aufs Ganze gehen” is good. Difficult to translate it for English friends.
it means to be on fire in every second. And its dangerous too.

it needs to be done.

Have a joyful sunday!

Om,

I am just amuzed you put the birthday into the Water Cooler Section.):)

This is what Wiki says about:

Water Cooler

My strong wish is a place where boiling the water can be found:):)Not only a digital version of shamanic Schwitzhütte(sweat lodge)lol..):)

Even more, where some integral fire is ignited. Dynamite and lava, danger and heat involved.

Radical humor which may be even insanely incorrect:):)

Would love it:):)

Best,

So glad you supported our playfulness, Albert, and from the rest of your post I see why!!!

Wow, that little explanation of your vision, or where you are coming from, is just amazing. What a contribution to Life on Earth !!!! Quite sympatico with my Tantric approach to life, and kind of Dionysian and Zorba-ish, but also different from any of those related approaches. Is that right?

I didn't quite understand the second part of this:
The land of poets and thinkers NEVER was only brainy…LOL….
No, sports, music and film, medicine and all kind of action oriented patterns can be found too.

Yes!:):)

“he land of poets and thinkers NEVER was only brainy…LOL….

What do i want to express? Tom Steininger, German editor of WIE has written and moderated lots of things I refer to.

I am pointing to those areas not in a horizontal way. Simply some other areas of public interest.

I am pointing to strong irrational impulses in the we feelings. The realms of instincts, archaic moods and myths.

Basically I fear I cannot make it clear enough. If we would have enough Germans here who are engaging in these areas it would become clear very fast:):)

So Gaia.com is serving these communications in a great way. I appreciate your personal attention in this direction vey much, Om!

Especially in integral orbits worldwide -not only at London Integral Circle - the specific energy and power of a liberated German spirit is missing right now. As Terry Patten stated too during this years Integral Forum in Germany.

will add a link in new post.

Well, I debated between Water Cooler and Announcements/Feedback a long time. Perhaps my choice was divinely inspired, LOL !!!!!

My Lord, that description of water coolers would allow even a Martian anthropologist to understand them. And how “cool” that they included the “social networking” angle!!!!!

Some water coolers nowadays do indeed dispense very hot water, suitable for making tea! But not enough for a sweatlodge, LOL !!!

For the fire, we'll have to look elsewhere. And for Integral Fire, hmmm, where shall we look???? :))

lol.):) where shall we look?

Of course always too into the mirror:)

I know how it feels to face all kinds of monsters, demons too. its a flickring image, sometimes it even disapears. it reveals deep collective layers too. Firhtening, ridiculous aspects too.

Mascha wrote something about monsters and gave the advice not to move:):)

Seldom the look into the mirror reveals however the true potential. The landing stripes for the future. German 20th century artist Joseph Beuys created this word. Then adopted by Otto Scharmer and others…

And, slightly modifying Peter Drucker who said:

“The best way to predict future is creating it.”

I suggest:

The best fire to find the fire is to create and nuture it in personal life.

Namaste, ram. ram:):)

Thanks for the other link!!! Looking forward.

And having an “OMG” moment. Taking off from what you just said, it's clear we cannot light the fire in ourselves without a lot of shadow work, especially around expressive strong energies/emotions. And that amazingly ties into a seemingly current energy “pattern” I touched on in this post just a few minutes ago:
http://yhd52754.gaia.com/blog/2009/11/letting-it-be#comment_457732

Which word was it that Joseph Beuys created? Landing strips (not stripes) for the future? Sure love the image !!!!!!

Yes, I know you know a lot about shadow work. Admiring that about you.

Om,

yes, you are right. its about especially around expressive strong energies/emotions. When its emrging in big collective we fields-  tens or hundreds of thousands of people or simply between some people only.

i would even gor further than calling it shadow work. Its a about a higher level of playfulness.

Patricia von Papstein and I tried to summarize a bit of it in the article for Integral leadership Review.

Are You ready to play the integral way?

Included are the considerations of Gwen Gordon and Sean Esbjorn Hargens about integral play. However, the radical implications of these articles are not even scratched at moment by most people .

Yes, Josef Beuys spoke first about landing stripes for the futures. Nowadays lots of creative people. see Robert Fritz and his work too.. are teachng creation processes.

The whole field of play, experimentation, creation, imagination and new ways of communication can create these landing stripes. It needs however careful, caring and a the same time bold mentality.

Howard Bloom is speaking in his new book - Genius of the beast -about infrastructures for fantasy. And putting soul at blood temperature into it all. This needs lots of mastery and free-minded as much as clear-minded attention.

The big underlying feeling of this emerging space is in my eyes what Nietzsche desribed as big health. Isnt this fantastic? And worth any existential risk?

Very best,
Albert
