Healing Energy for Ken

Nomali said Apr 3, 2008, 10:28 PM:

Friends,

Please don't be too concerned as I am sure Ken is fine.  However, personally, I just wanted to raise some healing energy to send Ken's way as, i hear, his gross body has not been terribly well lately.  I think, mostly, he is just very, very tired.  So, if you feel so inclined, join me and several of us here in Boulder, who will sit for him on Friday 4/4/08 from 5:30pm - 6:30pm Mountain Time at Boulder Center for Integral Living. You can join us from your own home.

As usual, as a practice, i light candles here daily.  If you like, you can join too.

Much Love

Yar!  We be in on the Ken-ergistic healing energy / meditation session.

(Also any Okendo practitioners out there might want to practice their art sometime today, or even on a regular basis; either alone or with a partner or group.)

love to Ken and Noms and all,
Arthur

I just lit a candle using the following quote from Ken, “Love is a time-honored way to transcend the separate-self sense and leap into the sublime.” - Ken Wilber

How did everyone else's hour go?

It was a chaotic time in my house to try to focus my energies. The contractor was still here putting in the new floor in the bathroom, and not having an easy time of it. Both kids were home, but not in the house, so I didn't know when either of them was going to come inside. They both had agendas for what they wanted to do that I knew I was going to have to shoot down.

And my friend, upon hearing that I was redoing my bathroom, offered me a high-end pedestal sink for cheap! How often do people just have these lying around, anyway? That changes the whole plan and makes a change-order nearly inescapable.

So what's this got to do with Ken? Nothing at all, as far as I was concerned. But I really wanted to do something for him. And I am extremely distractable. So I decided to just feel the connectedness of all those things–the seeming chaos of it all, the roiling nature of life's processes.

Arthur had put on some Krishna Das music that we both feel very tuned into. So while he was able to sit and chant for that hour, I had to get up periodically and check on things. When I sat back down, I visualized things while holding Arthur's hand. One of the most vivid images to come to mind was the internal processes of Ken's cells. It wasn't images like you'd see under a microscope and full light–it was more a dark swirling energy. I imagined all those processes being aided by our communal healing, supercharging his mitochondria.

There were times when I thought I could feel the rest of you, and times when I felt very distracted, but I just decided to accept everything as-is, which helped a lot. There were moments of complete acceptance of everything, followed  by moments of agentic spaz-outs: “No! We can't lose him. I can't lose him!” (Just who is this “I” person anyway, and why does she keep dragging me back to suffering about what is?) All, alas, interspersed with moments of wondering what to do about the bathroom mirror and two angry teenagers.

In the end, I wonder if the meditation, such as it was, did more for me than Ken. I did feel calmer, equanimous, at peace. The evening that followed was actually quite lovely, and my daughter and I were more connected than we've been in months. I was completely present. I hope that this was a sort of by-product of what effect we might have had on Ken.

At the end of the Krishna Das chanting, I finished things off by playing “Nothing In Between” from the awesome new Stuart Davis album Something Simple.

Stuart Davis - Nothing In Between

There is nothing in between us when we sleep
Every night the bliss begins to leak
Nothing in between us when we laugh
it's something that our head will never grasp

It's seen in between

There's nothing in between your joy and mine
It's all a lot of nectar
on the vine
Joy is how my parents were entwined
and there's nothing in between their lives and mine
We've seen

There's nowhere to hide in the open Reality
Love is so wide, there isn't a boundary
There is only one eye without any enemy

when you've seen in between

There's nothing in between our skin and light
Nothing in between the wind and kite
Nothing in between our lips and grace
Nothing in between the tongue and taste
It's seen

(Refrain)

There is nothing in between you and I
Nothing in between blue and sky

Nothing in between us and love
Nothing in between wings and doves

(Refrain)

There is nothing
in between

~~~
Here's a live version.
spiral out,
Arthur
…about us…
Yeh. I know the hour did me some good!
Got home late, began at 6:20, went till 7:30. At a time when we routinely have the Thai morning news on tv, the house was quiet, Arun joined me briefly, then supportive through quiet.
Alternating among chanting an old Zen gatha-on-long-life, tonglen visualization / breath / noticing, and just plain sitting, there was a moment when an image of Ken eating an orange popped up, thereafter some kind of shift in the whole process gave a sense of glad peace ( which then got dedicated to Ken's health… )
Writing this, however, I'm at work and have left and returned to it four times already.
Hi, Kerry!
Another image that came up for me was Ken laughing. He is a person who really knows joy, and I was feeling that.
Yes. I was going to ask everyone afterwards: was it good for you, too?
I had trouble maintaining a consistent focus, but when attention did hone in, Ken appeared perfectly unscathed, youthful, vigorous - sexy even. Flirtatiously so. Hmm, projection?
Nah, not from me (heh heh…).
 I have no way of knowing how solidly his energy is connected to the physical shell, which likely is run down from being overtaxed too often. But the funny thing was, he seemed to have a lot more juice than me! And who am I to think I should send him some of my piddling flotsam?
