Physicists, mostly, are realistic reductionist Copernicist mathematicists.

Realism is the prejudice that there is a universe out there, distinct from, but in communication with the physicist(1), and that understanding of this universe ought to be obtained by careful observation(2).

Reductionism is the prejudice that in order to understand complicated thingsit helps to understand its simpler parts(3).

Copernicism is the prejudice that the universe doesn’t care about the physicist’s tastes and preferences(4): the universe will keep going its own way as physicists fall for fads and fashions. In short, you are neither the center, nor at the center, of the universe.

Mathematicism is the prejudice that we can describe and, with luck, predict phenomena using the rules of the mathematical game(5); and that the universe deigns to conform to the rules of human mathematics(6).

All these prejudices may be wrong(7), but I will stick to them until they are clearly wrong.

By: Prof. Dr. R.H.P. Kleiss

From: 'The physics of Spacetime' - R.H.P. Kleiss - 12-04-2006

Footnotes at text:

1: Denying this is solipsism: the solipsist cannot be proven wrong by logical argument, but is, perhaps for that very reason, not a nice person to be with.

2: Denying this disqualifies one from doing physics (but not from doing mathematics); in extreme forms it can lead to revelationism and religious fundamentalism.

3: Do not be misled by fashionable slogans like ‘holism’, ‘complexity’, or ‘self-organization’. In the language we are using here, holims just states that the simplest part of a thing may happen to be the thing itself; complexity just states that simple things obeying simple rules may actually result in something pretty complicated-looking; and self-organization just states that the complicatedlooking result may actually be pretty robust. The Pseudo-Scientific New Ager will sit back and be impressed by the complicated-looking result; the scientist will be impressed by the simplicity of the parts and rules. The science of complexity is not the antithesis of reductionism, but an extreme case of it.

4: Do not be misled by fashionable slogans like ’observer effect’,’collapse of the wavefunction’, or ’the measurement problem’. Observer effect just states that the physicist, after all, is unavoidably part of the universe, and a separation between self and the universe is an idealization; collapse of the wavefunction just states that as the status of the self changes because of information gained
from the universe, it should not come as a surprise that the status of the universe also changes; the measurement problem just states that at present it is not yet completely clear how these status changes are to be explained reductionistically.

5: After centuries of brainwashing by physics’ successes, it is extremely hard for us even to conceive of any other way of doing it.

6: An undeserved but very fortunate condescension! This behaviour cannot be proven, but so far we have been succesful. On the other hand, it may mean that our mathematics has hit upon some fundamental actual properties of the world—in that case, an alien thechnology-based civilization on a distant planet would probably do mathematics the same way.

7: An open mind is a good thing, but a prejudice such as ‘do not jump out of this high window, because gravity always works’ sees you safely through the day.

I have spent most of my life thinking about all the things that I could produce or that I might create and very little time actually doing these things. As we move into a new season today, as it is the Autumnal Equinox, I am focused on crossing thresholds, breaking through obstacles, moving into new territory, and entering a new season of life. What would happen if I stopped thinking so much and just started doing? What would happen if I wasn't afraid of what someone might think of me and let go of my own self-judgment? What changes can you and I make as the seasons begin to change?

I am a twentyone year old who started my spiritual journey many years ago and am in a place in my life where I am awakening to a deeper understanding. I am noticing the spiritual tools I have been giving to help others and this world. The process has been beautiful and very tiring. Now I am looking for others who are on their spiritual journey so I can share and learn and grow.

Your life changes the moment you make a new, congruent, and committed decision.
~ Anthony Robbins

I motivate myself through daily positive affirmations that bring me back to a level that i am comfortable with and listen to music whenever possible. Whenever something negative
comes my way i try to find the positive in it because by adjusting the definition just a little bit you can move the worry, strife and other things that make people un-motivated out of the way.

what is meant by "spiritual bypassing"??

"white privilege" falls under delusion and wrong understanding, to me. the ideas of 'manifest destiny', 'westward expansion', or as Rudyard Kipling poetically phrased it , the "White Man's Burden" were simply rationalizations for conquering by force--and bringing pandemic diseases to indigenous populations. and the institution of slavery.

when the American Founding Fathers (all of them wealthy, Protestant, white landowners and mostly slaveowners as well) wrote "we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal", they did NOT mean people of color, or probably Jews/Catholics/Buddhists/Hindus/Wiccans, etc too. they were a product of their time, and the cultural/hegemonistic ego which accompanied.

I can only take responsibility for my own karma.

decisions made by those in power::leaders::come full circle and result in a "collective karma". 9-11 was a result of 50 years of bad foreign policy decisions regarding the Middle East made behind closed doors that the average American knew nothing about, along with our intractable resistance to move away from fossil fuels--again, policy decisions that did not involve the citizenry. by ignorance and misinformation, we are complicit in collective karma.

I dear to say that none of us can approach death in an unstrained way ! We are humans and it is our destiny to die, while the trees and the mountains remains. We feel immortal for some time until the acknowledgement catch up with us. We get sick or our nearest and dearest are leaving us, dying. This is my answer !

My question is like everyone elses question I guess ; what follows next ?? Is there an intention with our lives in a wider perspective ? Is there a heaven ? Sometimes I feel that there is a continuation, and sometimes I feel that I just will end up like dust floating in the wind, disappearing into nowhere. As I get older this prospect becomes much clearer and more serious. I can see and feel the "end of the road" more clearly and it make a certain impact on my life. Maybe I see myself and others in a different light. I´m more vulnerable and yet at the same time stronger. My contours stand out more clearly.

Death will also represent pain literally, both mentally and physically, and I beg for strength when my time comes.... On long distance I see this soothing place where I can rest, leaving my worries behind, and meeting my dearest that is lost in this life ! This is my belief that is my essential comfort too !

Life and Death are our physical reality and at the moment everything we can understand and comprehend scientificly. But, it ´s said that energies never stop to exist, it just change place of residence. Some says that our bodies becomes 20gr lighter after our physical death !!?

It is done much in researching and understanding of our physical body - its deseases and its way of behaviour. But what´s hidden in our brain is still a tremendous enigma. How many percent of the brain do we take into use , in average?? It´s not so much and the possibilities that´s there must be enormous. The co-operation between the two halfs of our brain aren´t always as tuned in to one another as they could have been. Maybe the left part of the brain; the analytical, rational, logical part which looks at parts of our reality is overstimulated ?! And the right part that is more creative, intuitive, holistic and subjective looks at the wholes ! It´s a fact that the left brain is the most stimulated in our schools today, and in our society in general. too. What would happen if it existed a total co-operation and fully exploitation of our brains ??

I guess we are too good in "left -brain thinking" and for that reason don´t know exactly how to use our intuitive, holistic senses. We miss out of the totality and can just see the world in limited dimensions and in pure, physical shapes. There are more and more people who claim to have this connection with outstreched senses ,but it is difficult to be convinced unless you have touched the sixth sense enigma yourself. :)) I think it is a very exceptional possibility that is hidden here, waiting for us to discover and accept...

Ane
