The Master Cleanse

Jenna said Aug 21, 2006, 8:53 PM:

I just did a 14 day called the Master Cleanse, by Stanley Burroughs.
I feel wonderful, more energy, lost 10 lbs, skin clearer, mind clearer.  I have come to some deicsions about my life that there has got to be something better with my daily 8-5.  I have had to deal with my feelings with out alcohol, or food or other distractions to cover and smother reality.  It is amazing, I don't think I could have imagined doing it this way, what self control we have once we put our mind to it.  I crave healthy fresh food.  I crave eating right, I do know it is all connected, when I eat mainstream I feel unhealthy sleep more, procrastinate.  I am motivated, sleep less have great energy and spirit.

wow!
was this your first cleanse?  if so, that's quite the first cleanse.  did you have any withdrawal symptoms (emotional, psychological, physical)?

What jems of wisdom from your own experience would you give to someone about to start this cleanse?

Have you made any commitments to yourself regarding your future eating lifestyle?  What are your major motivations in making these commitments.

Well, I'm terribly happy for you that you've found a lighter more energized step through this cleansing process.  Also, the discovery of the strength of your will is quite exciting.  What other places you may go!!

That is a bit of an extreme cleanse, but it sounds like you're walking away from it nicely.  I also find when I maintain a healthy lifestyle and nutritious diet, that my body actually starts to crave it.  Nine times out of ten the thought of shoving something like a donut down my throat actually makes me feel a little sick to my stomach, but when that one time out of ten hits, watch out!!

I'm going to have to look into the Stanely Burroughs cleanse, thanks for mentioning it.

I don't know what I was talking about above; after being in the fourth day of a five day fruit, vegetable, water, and herbal tea fast, all donuts sound like heaven to me right now!!

To clarify on my last post, for me, becoming more and more nutritious over the years has turned me off of more heavier sweets, but I couldn't go without lighter ones like strawberry rhubarb pie side dished with vanilla ice cream, or donuts such as an apple fritter.  Moderation towards sugar intake is definitely the key.

I find to be a total convert in any area of life to be very limiting in achieving both a healthy diet and lifestyle.

i’ve heard many good things about the master cleanse, but also that it makes women more prone to yeast infections. has anyone else heard/read about this side effect?
