Hi all,

My name is Annemieke and I live in the Netherlands. I am reading here for a few weeks now and I think the discussions are very interesting.

I have been spending to much time on Youtube lately, so I have not been reading as much as I would like. Especially ‘the problem of I' seems very interesting, so I want to read some more soon.

Maybe I will jump in now that I finally introduced myself.

Thank you for the great looking drinks,
Annemieke

Welcome Annemieke!  I see the mods are bribing you with alcohol!

Hey hold it!  Did “I” say “I”??  “I” did!  “I” also said “you,” and “alcohol.”  Pardon me, let me restate:

“Welcome” “Annemieke”!  “I” “see” “the” “mods” “are” “bribing” “you” “with” “alcohol.”

And on it goes.  : )

Hey everyone,

Just got off the boat, and I'm liking this place already.

I'm a philosopher, a blogger, a meditator–currently enrolled at Fordham University (senior year with a major in sociology). Culture, society, structures of the universe, and of course silence are  deeply rooted parts of my life.

I'm interested in discussing Integral topics with anybody, and in particular, developing them further. These are new territories, and we are explorers mapping the way as best we can.

Which has considerably evolved, but nevertheless started from the integral community. I'm always up for discussing any sort of projects, and long for the day where we can get a community of active, dynamic theorists across multiple fields furthering Wilber's work—Or is that just what we are doing on this archipelago?

Hey,

So I’ve joined up here…thanks for the invitation David.

A couple of thoughts coming in. I looked this place over pretty well when Balder posted on Integral Postmetaphysical Spirituality
pod a notice about linking up with the other Integral Gaia pods.
Several of them on his list look derelict and dead in the water, but
not quite as dead as some of those one can find by tapping the
“Integral” link on the Gaia homepage topics cloud. Those ones that are
active, like this one and a couple of others seem to be energized by a
few of the faithful performing like dancing bears before a moderately
small crowd of unresponsive members. This is the way it has always been
and this is the future.

Second, I live about 30 klm south of the southern shore of the
Caribbean, 10° north of the Equator, and I would suggest dropping the
tropical theme and situating this pod off the coast of Alaska or Japan
or Finland. The stuff on this pod is Northern, nothing much on this
site plays very well south of Cancer (23.4° North). Changing the world
is a northern illusion; what northern people do to entertain themselves
between feedings.

The tropics are for going to seed…

My blogs are:

David,
You asked: How do you feel about Chavez’s referendum victory?

I am not a great fan of term limits, though neither am I a great fan of politicians. I am a fan of the will of the people. Term limits can be seen as a semi-contrived block to the people’s right to express their will. In a democratic environment, the people vest themselves with the government they deserve. If Chavez is to stay or go as president it is better left to the people in the moment, than to the rule of a law called a term limit.

I meant also to comment on this.  I agree, Northern types carry this view of “change,” with its attendant consequences and anti-What-Is movements.  One consequence of this the Northern view—or at least a correlation I’ve noted—is that Northern feedings are in no small part funded by work in the south, writ large on the history of civilization.  That correlation might have something to do with that illusion.

Hi, I am Albert.

Nice to explore integral archipelagos. I see the SDi archipelago too and even lots of islands which are not labeled and mapped out right now:)

Like the early Europeans in Renaissance and later who found lots of American Islands:)One guy even tried to find India and discovered North America.

So I am open to unknown territory of every kind. May it be in perspectives, horizones, geographical regions or just in human mind, body and spirit.

My cosmic adress still to be determined..) My living space basically in Berlin, Germany at moment.

Cheers,

Re: New Pod Members

Thanks for the Welcome. Just checked the Wiki Definition or ARCHIPELAGO:

An Archipelago is a chain or cluster that are formed tectonically. I would very much like to expand this cartograpy to global affairs and any form of global communication. As Kosmos Journal and Integral leadership Review are doing already. The tectonic plates are greatly understood to in Spiral Dynamics Integral , as modifying, extending, developing and field testing the work of Clare graves.

This I would consider a minimum complimentary constellation besides AQAL.

Other more invisible integrating and integrative emerging islands could be named.

Lots to be discovered and explored:)

And the local, regional and national and continental deep basic layers of these clusters.

An archipelago (pronounced /ɑrkəˈpɛləgoʊ/) is a chain or cluster of islands that are formed tectonically. The word archipelago literally means “chief sea”, from Italian arcipelago (artʃiˈpelago), derived ultimately from Greek arkhon (arkhi-) (“leader”) and pelagos (“sea”). In Italian, possibly following a tradition of antiquity, the Archipelago (Greek: Αρχιπέλαγος) was the proper name for the Aegean Sea and, later, usage shifted to refer to the Aegean Islands (since the sea is remarkable for its large number of islands). It is now used to generally refer to any island group or, sometimes, to a sea containing a large number of scattered islands like the Aegean Sea.[1]

Re: New Pod Members

Regarding Sdi, see this

2000 presentation by Don Beck at State of the World Forum

“Debates over globalization are but the surface-level collisions of the deeper tectonic plate-like cultural fault lines that remain hidden from view. The failure to both understand and deal with these evolutionary core value systems result in needless clashes over worldviews, constant threats of “us” vs. “them” or class-based violence, and expensive, politicized solutions that are both inappropriate and ineffectual. The WTO debates and conflicts in Seattle exposed these fault-lines. But where are the integral, cohesive principles and processes that can bridge over the great, global divides? Who can untie the global knot? How can the positive elements within both capitalistic thinking and socialistic goals be meshed for the common good? Consider the Twelve Postulates, an integral initiative based on an understanding of the complex dynamics that forge and transform human cultures, communities, and countries.”

Re: New Pod Members

David said Feb 23, 9:34 AM:

Albert, indeed! Lots to be discovered and explored!

There are many islands, atolls, and cays in this archipelago that have yet to be discovered, named, and populated!

What do you think might be out there?

At the moment we have Current Events Cay, which covers some of the ground you are talking about but not necessarily all. We might do well to expand to another island or two.

But where to expand, more specifically? What isn’t covered with the islands already within the archipelago proper? What in particular would need to have its own ideas? I have a few nascent ideas forming, but I will just let them germinate for the moment.

Thank you for the definition/etymology. I hadn’t looked at that yet, but I really love that kind of thing, and it’s important to know.

Chief Sea. Hmmm … we might want to recontextualize that somehow to make it sound more kosmocentric.  :) Maybe that’s our Teal shadow! (Integral expert, first-tier allergy) :)

Thank you also for the Don Beck article; I will be interested to read that.

David kindly invited me here from IL (and I notice that I'm not the first nor the last). I've been active to a limited extent at the II-pod a year ago and recognize some names here. Last month I've been more active at IL.

I've just finished off some work and hope to have a bit more time to dig into som integral theory. I have some ideas that I want to share in time. I'm from Sweden btw and I hang a lot with the green meme irl and in forum discussions. That's a favorite topic of mine.

Glad to be here, I'd thought I take the opportunity and learn to surf.

Best regards to y'all and swim you later!
