Heh. I thought it was a cupcake at first, too. Sometimes, when I see something like that, I think, “hey, I bet I could do that.” But then when I try to figure out how, I think, “Forget it. I'll just eat one.” |

<uncontrollable laughter>… I found the tools they must have used here to make such a sculpture to help sell Swiss Army Knives. I would just slice & eat too :-) |

I thought you created that art work! Wow it is beautiful - I'd not want to eat it though cause so much work went into it and also I wouldnt have the heart to cut it up. On the other hand if the chef/tess was looking on with a look of anticipation in their eyes dying to see everyone enjoying the food - I guess I'd eat - but probably savour each little bit with more awareness than i may have otherwise :) |

Now this is funny. I am all thumbs (green ones) but don't have such patience. Even when I make things from scratch, I gotta taste as I go. I couldn't resist though leaving some artful watermelon! Interesting, I will look at how I place the food to make it aesthetically appealing next time its my turn to cook. |

Can you guys fill me in on the whole raw food thing. I do eat raw foods–fruit and veggies–but I also like to cook. I love stir-frys and other veggie dishes that are cooked(I recently got a sushi recipe) I also like rice–not just the white kind–I have been trying the differnt ones out there. |

hey lizzyl. i just took an eastern perspective class, and in it theres the whole idea of everything in moderation. although raw foods are good for you, its probably best to diversify. what i tend to do is not overcook veggies, so theres texture and more flavor. im pretty sure ive read somewhere that overcooking veggies and such takes the nutrients out. hope that helps a little. take care. happy eating. :) |

Hi Lizzy! I was raw for two years. It was pretty tough, as I was very strict with what I could and couldn't eat. Probably the best resource for living a healthy raw lifestyle would be David Wolfe. Just do a google search for him. You'll find tons of information. |

The Indian system of ayurveda also advocates lightly cooked food and not all raw. I can't speak for an all-raw diet; but possibly half of every meal - if not 2/3rds- for me, is raw. It provides fiber to fill you up, and also nourishment. You've to love veggies and fruit though, and not try to do this unless you do. And sometimes, if you're craving salt, e.g., you could sprinkle a little mountain or some sort of healthy salt on watermelon or fruit or veggies. Just a little, to prevent eating something else that's really salty. |

my main response to raw food diet has been fascination at the amazing array of alternative foods\recipes which people have conjured up, including chocelette cake made from olives! Ive only heard about this and am hoping to get the recipe and try it! There seem to be many wonderful ideas and I certainly want to try many of them out. I do love cooked food - as an ayurvedic predominantly vata body type, cooked food definitely suits me more than a plate of mostly raw. Having said that, mmm, I love fruit and on certain hot summer days, if I remember correctly on this winter morning, a plate of salad and raw veg is soo delicious, light on the system and refreshing |

A book that helped me change my diet into 80% raw food is PH Miracle by Dr. Robert O. Young, I really think you should take a look at his site here, very interesting theory: http://www.phmiracleliving.com/ |

Unfortunately you will not find a consensus about anything, even among raw foodists. Adherents say eating foods in their raw state preserves nutrients and digestive enzymes. Beyond that…there's a wide variety of opinions about what to eat and how to eat it, and many raw food gurus advising different paths. |
