Saw this important initiative by Google on Sandra's blog - spread the word!

Project 10 to the 100th

Posted on Oct 2nd, 2008 by Sandra : Inspirational Ambassador Sandra
Cat-and-mouse2 This is probably old hat to most people around here, but I only just got wind of it.

May Those Who Help The Most Win

Google is doing something called ”Project 10 to the 100th“  This is a bit of what they say about it:

Project 10100 (pronounced “Project 10 to the 100th”) is a call for ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible.

We're committing $10 million to implement these projects, and our goal is to help as many people as possible. So remember, money may provide a jump-start, but the idea is the thing.

You can submit your idea (BY OCTOBER 20!), or vote… more

I have a suggestion for a way for Google to help change the world.  They could stop censoring themselves in order to help the Chinese government oppress the Chinese and Tibetan people.  If anyone is interested in this subject or about Google censorship in general, then here are several links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship_by_Google

This should have particular interest for those on Gaia for Gmail is run by Google.  But I don't mean to say Google is the only search engine who has morally questionable practices.  Yahoo gave the Chinese government the private email of some dissidents that sent them to jail.

That's horrible, Marmalade. Thank you for highlighting these practices,
