This can become a helpful resource not only for newcomers but those who have been here awhile, and have trouble tracking which groups are active.
Clicking on the link on your sidebar: Active will tell you which “open” groups have received a post within the last day. It won't tell you about the groups that are active but haven't happened to receive a post. You also don't know if it is a group that has received a post but no one is “home” to answer.

So, my current working definition of active is:
1) Having at least one moderator (doesn't have to be an official one, can be an interested volunteer) who is responding to posts
2) Having a reasonable amount of activity, say every week or so. Some groups are less active at times but are still live and cared for resources, so this is somewhat flexible.
The following list is alphebetical and will be updated as needed. Over time, we will look at different groupings - request-in, community service groups, etc
If you would like your group to be mentioned here (or you want changes on how it is mentioned) feel free to contact me.
